Definition:
"The Malice of Inanimate Objects" is the title of a 1933 essay by M.R. James.
"Resistentialism" is a term coined by Paul Jennings, who wrote in his 1950 essay "Report on Resistentialism": "Les choses sont contre nous. Things are against us. This is the nearest English translation I can find for the basic concept of Resistentialism."
