GLOSSARIO MOLTO INTERESSANTE dei nomi in italiano, e con riferimento alla scrittura ortografica di questi nomi anche in lingua inglese, francese ed altre. Questo piccolo GLOSSARIO di NOMI DI PERSONA E DI TOPONIMI si aggiunge al precedente glossario di nomi comuni e vuole suggerire una CORRETTA GRAFIA e una corretta PRONUNCIA dei nomi propri che più spesso capitano a chi opera nel campo dell’informazione. Tutti questi nomi sono infatti suggeriti dalla cronaca, nazionale e soprattutto internazionale di questi ultimi anni, e molti vengono da lingue meno conosciute, alcune delle quali hanno alfabeti diversi da quello latino (l’arabo, il greco, il russo e il serbo) o non hanno alfabeto (il cinese); meno semplici, quindi, sono i criteri di traslitterazione o trascrizione. Come nel glossario dei nomi comuni anche qui non si è voluto ricorrere, per la pronunzia, all’alfabeto fonetico internazionale, così pieno di segni particolari; l’indicazione è pertanto approssimativa, anche se sufficiente ad assicurare una pronunzia abbastanza corretta; e per la grafia si è evitato di usare le lettere con segni diacritici proprie di tante lingue europee (lo sloveno, il croato, il ceco, lo svedese, il polacco ecc.). Insieme ai nomi propri e ai toponimi il glossario contiene anche qualche nozione e alcuni aggettivi e nomi comuni legati ai nomi propri. A website in Romanian and English that offers a multilingual dictionary which seems to be updated very frequently with hundreds of terms and expressions in very different (especially multi-technical) fields. Term search is achieved through a search engine, and there is a dictionary log on the right side listing the latest registered terms. Of course, the suggested terminology often depends on precise contexts and can sometimes be helpful without necessarily giving the appropriate translation. Many language combinations are available, although combinations between Romanian and English, French or German seem to offer the widest database, and it is hard for me to tell what can actually be found in other combinations. Basically: explore it to find out what it can actually offer you. ;-)

The Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety terminology website is an experimental service of the terminological project Linguaggi e attività Produttive of the Advanced School of Modern Languages for Interpreters and Translators (SSLMIT), University of Bologna in Forlì. It was financed by ISPESL (the Italian Institute for workplace prevention and safety) in the framework of its 2003 research activities (B17/DOC/03).

The multilingual glossary of the database includes all the termbase records, but also enhances identification of equivalences between the four legal systems. Terms are presented in alphabetical order according to the language selected.
