Questo piccolo GLOSSARIO di NOMI DI PERSONA E DI TOPONIMI si aggiunge al precedente glossario di nomi comuni e vuole suggerire una CORRETTA GRAFIA e una corretta PRONUNCIA dei nomi propri che più spesso capitano a chi opera nel campo dell’informazione. Tutti questi nomi sono infatti suggeriti dalla cronaca, nazionale e soprattutto internazionale di questi ultimi anni, e molti vengono da lingue meno conosciute, alcune delle quali hanno alfabeti diversi da quello latino (l’arabo, il greco, il russo e il serbo) o non hanno alfabeto (il cinese); meno semplici, quindi, sono i criteri di traslitterazione o trascrizione. Come nel glossario dei nomi comuni anche qui non si è voluto ricorrere, per la pronunzia, all’alfabeto fonetico internazionale, così pieno di segni particolari; l’indicazione è pertanto approssimativa, anche se sufficiente ad assicurare una pronunzia abbastanza corretta; e per la grafia si è evitato di usare le lettere con segni diacritici proprie di tante lingue europee (lo sloveno, il croato, il ceco, lo svedese, il polacco ecc.). Insieme ai nomi propri e ai toponimi il glossario contiene anche qualche nozione e alcuni aggettivi e nomi comuni legati ai nomi propri. A website in Romanian and English that offers a multilingual dictionary which seems to be updated very frequently with hundreds of terms and expressions in very different (especially multi-technical) fields. Term search is achieved through a search engine, and there is a dictionary log on the right side listing the latest registered terms. Of course, the suggested terminology often depends on precise contexts and can sometimes be helpful without necessarily giving the appropriate translation. Many language combinations are available, although combinations between Romanian and English, French or German seem to offer the widest database, and it is hard for me to tell what can actually be found in other combinations. Basically: explore it to find out what it can actually offer you. ;-)
