Explanation:
A Stiftleiste is just a row (or two) of pins.

There's a nice photo in the first reference.

I continue to believe pin headers is exactly what you\'re looking for. Actually, I returned to this question to find out if the new html feature permits hot-linking of pictures. If not, please disregard the following code:-)

male connector; plug connector

Explanation:
According to the Laixicon online dictionary, it can be one of those two things. I think that definitely applies to your context. I'd favour male connector to be absolutely clear.

agree  Gillian Scheibelein: yep, 26-pin (male) connector

  -> Thanks for that, Gillian.

neutral  Klaus Herrmann: I don't think of a Stiftleiste but of a Stecker when I read connector. While it's not wrong, it's inconcise.

  -> Thanks for that info. I still think "male connector" is a valid translation though. "Male connector" is better than just "connector".

neutral  John Jory: Although frequently 'misused' for D-type connectors, the terms Stiftleiste & Buchsenleiste refer to STRAIGHT male/female connector strips (Leiste). Typical examples are the edge connectors of Eurocards.
