Tal como se usa normalmente, el término coyuntura se traduce en inglés por <business cycle> o <current economic situation> o incluso <economic trends>. Se refiere a los cambios normales de incrementos y decrementos de la actividad económica en general en su ciclo de subidas y bajadas. Ocupa un mayor espacio temporal que los <seasonal changes> y menos, por supuesto, que los <structural changes> que tienen un carácter mucho más duradero y a veces definitivo, sin vuelta atrás, como el cambio de la producción industrial a la producción de servicios en los últimos veinte años.
