About me

Dear prospective customer

What kind of information relevant to my activities as a translator can I give you? Well, to be honest, I am a relative newcomer to the translation business, but at least a newcomer who is suitably educated.

I graduated from HWN, an institute for higher education in The Hague, the Netherlands, offering BA programmes in interpreting and translating (B.Tr). I also graduated in medicine from the Free University (VU) in Amsterdam, thus having extensive medical knowledge (MBBS).

A relative newcomer who also does enjoy producing perfect work and will always strive for it. I translated, for example, the Nelson Syndrome into Dutch and I made a very good job of it (you can find the texts in my portfolio). I know I am capable of producing good work and I am obviously cut out for doing medical translations. However, I also do have translation experience in the fields of theology and philosophy, amongst other things.

For the time being I will charge a relative low price for my translations so as to create an opportunity for myself to show you my competency. I hope you will give me that chance. You may rest assured that I will not disappoint you. What else can I say?

Yes, this, if you set too tight a deadline, I'm afraid I can't help you. I don't settle for less than what I can take pride in. Pleasure in my work comes before cash or career. Quality in my work comes before quantity of work. I would rather not turn this great, exacting craft and art of translation into a mediocre, mechanically-performing-the-tricks-of-the-trade affair. It would degrade it into a meaningless activity.
