The personal side - we are who we love...

I am the daughter of a Colombian Math Professor and a Swedish/German-American Computer Science Professor.
I am the sister to a second generation computer nerd and unabashed bibliophile.
I am the girlfriend to an adventure-seeking French accountant who is still dreaming about our week long road trip from Austin, Texas to Veracruz, Mexico and back again....without a map.

The personal side - we are what we love...
I love the written word.
Learning, reading....If it was only up to me, I would just spend the rest of my life pillaging librairies and bookstores. Worlds, ideas, people...everything can be experienced, taught and broadened through words.
And, of course, imagine my delight, when I realized that I could read even more books when I learned French and Spanish....it's like waking up and finding yourself in a Godiva chocolate store, and all the employees have already gone home.
Mmmm....chocolate.

I love chocolate.
For those of you in or near Paris, I think we can all agree that the person who thought of the Salon du Chocolat should be canonized and glorified as the truly illuminated soul he/she is.

I love my dog, Nikkita
Like parents say about their kids, the day I decided to have Nikkita was a turning point in my life. I adopted her from the Austin SPCA, where she had spent a couple months after being rescued from abuse. She was 1 year old and was the only dog in the cages who didn't bark when someone walked in, instead she looked at each person carefully and calmly. When they led her into another room to meet us, she came alive with happiness, wagging her tail so much that it made her rear wiggle back and forth until she lost her balance and fell over, only to pop right back up again.
Also, she has got to be the only dog who will not touch any food placed within her reach, unless specifically given to her; even if it's a big, juicy hamburger fresh off the barbecue placed on the coffee table and no one is in the room.

I love to play music
I can play the piano, am learning the guitar, and used to sing in musicals and with the Shreveport Chamber singers. Despite my 12+ years of lessons, I am still in awe in front of my brother's natural talent in composing music and lyrics. He can make a melody that will drive you crazy, because it just gets stuck in your head and lazily swims around for a couple days.

I love MacGyver
Well, perhaps I should specify...I love the idea of being like MacGyver, the guy who knows how to do anything, build anything, create anything by just recuperating and reusing whatever was just lying around. He would dip into his well of knowledge and come up with a solution on anything. The most well-versed, and practical, guy on the planet.
Have I succeeded? Well, I'm getting a small reputation as a Miss Fix-it among my inner circle, but I just discovered a downside. Now, I'm the only one fixing all the plumbing.

The dropdown menus have been divided into two-dimensional panels with similar items grouped together under headings. This eliminates scrolling for those with smaller screens, and also improves readability. More information on the changes... Where is the "My ProZ.com" menu? Mouseover your name at the top of the screen. Here you will find information about your account, your email settings, and more. The "My ProZ.com" menu was moved up here to simplify the main navigation, and to keep all of this type of information together. I cannot find something If you are having trouble finding something with the new menu, please submit a support request.
