I specialise in quite a few areas: international relations, trade, literature, history, human resources and the social, political and economic fields.
I (and a few very trusted colleagues) also provide research, consulting, translation, proofreading, fact finding and fact checking services, in French, English, Greek, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese combinations.
I also review and edit English text translated from Chinese for North American markets.
I keep the improvisation and guesswork to a strict minimum. I will go “in the field” to retrieve the right term and I do not overcompensate for lack of having the right term. I believe not in translating words but in conveying a message.
Pet peeves:
• Agencies and outsourcers under the mistaken impression that “urgent” is a punctuation mark…
• Agencies and outsourcers who really expect that I will give them a discount for volume; yeah; there's a real moneymaker-of-a-strategy: work more for less money; did I miss something here?
• Long winded debates of questionable pertinence over “the right term” which fly in the face of the ultimate objective.
• Emails starting with “Dear translator, we are currently expanding our databank of translators…”
Hint: If you're going to ask me to "do a short test" , be prepared ot pay top dollar (or euro or whatever) ...

I have written and translated a number of manuals for government, NGOs and private sector clients;
I routinely put together RFPs in three languages;
I review and edit English text translated from source languages other than English and French (this can be quite hilarious at times; great laugh therapy...);
I also draw up documents in French or English, pertaining to setting up of international joint ventures between large corporations, for whom I also help arrange venture or expansion capital, as a member of an international consulting firm.
For some strange reason, I have been getting lots of medical work over the last 4 years; translating medical files, which given my being a hypochondriac, is really doing a number on me...
I don't keep an updated CV but you can check out the portfolio section of my website at http://www.signifikatranslations.com/en/portfolio.html
My fees are most affordable;
My references will attest the quality of my work…
