The presentation will describe this enjoyable and upbeat sector and discuss the creativity required of the translator. There will be examples of the types of copy a translator in this field is likely to encounter, with insights into the target audience and the purpose of such texts. We will look at the skills required of translators in this field, delve into some of the available resources, and offer ideas on how to find work in this exciting and fast-changing leisure industry.

| Bio: Oliver Lawrence is an Italian to English translator (specialising in tourism, marketing and contracts) and editor who has been living and working in Italy since 2008. Trading as "Incisive Translations", he is an MCIL, a MITI (rated "excellent" on the entrance examination - in travel marketing), a member of Plain Language Association InterNational (PLAIN), and an Associate of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders.|
He has spoken on tourism translation for eCPD Ltd, for which he will be running the 3-week course "Clear Writing, Clear Benefits" in November 2014.
