Informal get-togethers of groups of ProZ.com users living in close proximity. | Back to testimonial home page What attendees say about ProZ.com Conferences I really enjoyed the conference and brought back some inspiring ideas, interesting conceptions and good food for thought. Thanks a lot to the organisers for doing an excellent job, to the speakers for their generous contributions - and to everybody else, too, for the great company! The effort put to bring such an elegant beautiful event to light is superb. A special and hearty thanks goes to Hazem Hamdy for helping bring such a bouquet of speakers together and for patiently sailing them through the preparation requirements in a very friendly manner. Also, the enrichment of meeting with people and connecting with friends and new colleagues is a priceles asset. Proz.com conferences are an opportunity to consolidate existing working relationships and to establish new ones, as well as an occasion to learn about new technologies and trends about our profession. They are also a good excuse for travelling. As a new translator I was a bit apprehensive about meeting all these seasoned translators, who would of course be a bit suspicious about this new kid on the block. I couldn't have been more wrong. The atmosphere was warm and open and everybody was quite happy to share their tips and tricks of the trade with me. The balance between sessions and time for networking was excellent. Having a powwow the evening before the conference was a stroke of genius. [...] I had only signed up for one day, thinking I'd be exhausted after meeting all these strangers. I could, however, with no problem, sign up for the Sunday as well. And of course, my fellow translators aren't strangers anymore, but dear friends. Thanks to you all for an unforgettable experience! ProZ.com conferences provide the ideal platform to gain visibility for my business, within the industry and beyond. Being able to meet expert freelancers is a great plus, as is the opportunity to sit down and talk with ProZ.com staff.
Ralf Lemster, Managing Partner, Ralf Lemster Financial Translations GmbH I am glad I was part of the first proz confrence in Egypt. The group was wonderful, people mixed easily and left with a beautiful feeling of unity. They shared information and helpful tips and there was no member out of place. Thank you Mr. Hazem for your efforts and your punctuality. May Allah guide you and grant you success! It was a heavenly event. I got together with colleagues with whom I worked for years and never met in the flesh. I learned some new things. I networked effectively. The whole event was more than my expectations. Thanks to ProZ.com, Hazem, the team and sponsors. Hope to see ya all soon Una muy linda experiencia, enriquecedora en todo sentido y una buena oportunidad para reflexionar y dar pasos hacia el futuro con una nueva perspectiva. Gracias a los organizadores y a los expositores. Todo excelente By participating in ProZ.com's Krakow conference, we had a chance to personally meet and talk with the freelance translators who work on our projects. The conference also provided opportunity to introduce ourselves to new translators with whom we have yet to collaborate with. Essentially, we couldn’t miss out on an opportunity to present our company at an event that took place in the city where our headquarters are located.
Anna Zagrajek, Training & Senior Resource Specialist, Argos Translations The weekend was packed full with great sessions, lots of opportunities to network, and also time to see some of the city - I learned quite a few new things, got inspired to try new approaches and methods ans met a ton of wonderful people - what a great weekend!! thank you so much for all the hard work that went into organizing it!!! One of my best experiences since beeing a freelancer. Thanks for the great weekend!!! A very well-run conference, with interesting speakers and loads of friendly people. It really rekindled my enthusiasm for working as a freelancer. A very worthwhile way to spend a weekend. Looking forward to the next time! Last November's ProZ.com conference in Paris was the first one I signed up for but I'm sure it won't be the last. The overall quality of the speakers was excellent, the topics covered were well chosen and the mix of freelancers and translation companies in attendance proved to be really enriching (not only but also in the crassly materialist sense). What really stood out was the enthusiasm and professionalism of the team that put the whole thing together. In particular, Anne Diamantidis gave a cracking presentation of ProZ itself - a perfect cure for translator's cynicism.... Fue un placer compartir el día con todos ustedes. Me llevo una pila de cosas para implementar para una mejor gestión y venta de mis servicios. GRACIAS!!! Great opportunity to meet colleagues and learn from others' experiences. Keep it up! It was a nice chance for getting acquainted to new colleagues and outsourcers, listening to some new ideas and learning some really important things.
Hope that such a gathering be a regular annual event.
Thanks to ProZ.com, the organizers and for all those who attended the seminar.
Excellent - an opportunity to put faces to names that previously were just e-mail contacts. Lots of information - some of it old (but reassuring confirmation of existing practices), some of it new (food for thought and possible implementation as part of future practices)! I always enjoy ProZ.com Events: useful contents, cool & easygoing people, very kind staff Well worth flying across the pond. The spirit, the content (diversity of offered sessions from translating Tolstoy to CAT tools), the camaraderie, high level of professionalism and dedication to our profession, the organizers did their best to make us feel great (they seem to have special connections as they even arranged great weather on the day before the conference, when we were sightseeing) ... Kudoz!!!!" It was a Conference that was really worth attending. I got home and immediately started implementing part of all the good advice we were given, downloading programs and organizing my workload, etc, etc.
It has given me a lot of insights on how to focus/manage my business and a much needed push encouraging me to take a step back (take my nose out of my screen and my fingers off my keyboard) and take a new look at what I am doing and where I am heading within the current context of the Localization business. Also an excellent opportunity to compare notes with colleagues and learn about the latest translation software and trends in industry technology. Since I only registered on ProZ.com a few days before the conference, everything was totally new to me. I was really glad to be with you and listen to so many interesting topics. And I really, really enjoyed meeting so many kind and interesting people willing to give me their opinion and lots of useful information. In this way I would like to thank not only the organizers, but also all participants for the great weekend and sharing their know-how with me. Hope to meet you again at some future conferences! Realmente me gustó la jornada, espero podamos tener más de estos eventos. Nos hacen bien a todos, siempre aportan algo positivo. Felicitaciones a los organizadores! I had a wonderful time and was sorry afterwards that I had only bought a one-day pass for Saturday: I really would have liked to stay longer. Count me in next time! This conference was the most homogeneous I have ever attended: everyone was a freelancer. Naturally, there are benefits and disadvantages to any mix, but this was extraordinary, in that you knew that whoever you spoke to, there would be a fundamental defining feature in common. (...) here was a conference by and for and with direct counterparts. The seminar was beautifully organized, and offered a wonderful opportunity for professional enrichment, as well as for meeting old friends and making new ones. I just wanted to thank you for a wonderful conference. It was my first conference and I enjoyed it a lot and also learned a lot. It was really great meeting so many colleagues and has realy helped me in seeing more clearly how I want to work in the future. This was a great experience for a young freelancer like me. A big thank you to the organizers! Thank you so much! I wasn't sure what to expect, since this was my first ProZ.com conference, but I would have never imagined I'd have such a great time. See you at the next one! As a regular outsourcer attendee, I find ProZ.com conferences an excellent opportunity to bridge the "freelancer-outsourcer gap". On the one hand, I can listen to the translators' perspective at the sessions, which creates empathy, and gives me a chance to re-think workflows, vendor selection practices and/or criteria. On the other hand, I get to explain the language service providers' point of view to individual translators, which makes co-operation easier later on. As an MLV working into 40+ languages we're in desperate need of seasoned freelance translator teams and small agency vendors. ProZ.com conferences are the ideal setting for finding new partners, and to personally meet the members of our existing network of translators from around the world. Finally, I think ProZ.com is a vibrant, living community of strikingly interesting, intelligent people who are just fun to be with.
Miklos Ban, MD, e-spell group I did enjoy this day. I learned a lot from the informative presentations which paid attention to individuals and institutions in the career of translation. I met my old friends and got to know new colleagues in the real world, away from the virtual world. Energizing. Not only did I learn much more than I dared to hope, I enjoyed myself more than I ever thought possible! Met so many great people and am even more motivated and enthused about my profession than I was before the conference! Kudos ;) |
