Eroticism has this in common with an addictive drug: that there is a coercive element to its pleasure with which part of us is in complicity, and part not. Thus ever since time began men have been trying to enjoy eroticism without being destroyed by it. Societies, religions can be defined in the way they deal with this conundrum. Polygamy, monogamy with repression, monogamy with affairs, monogamy with prostitutes, serial monogamy. Not to mention individual solutions of great ingenuity, or desperation: Victor Hugo with the door knocked through the wall of his office, to let in a girl each afternoon. Auden's flair for finding call-boys in every town. Picasso who simply refused when wife and mistress demanded he choose between them. Then there is always the hair-shirt of course. But perhaps the thing to remember when you wake up with a life full of fresh paint and tortuous complications is that eroticism wasn't invented for you, nor merely for the survival of the species perhaps, but for a divinity's entertainment. Nothing generates so many opportunities for titillation and schadenfreude as eroticism. Which is why it lies at the centre of so much narrative. How the gods thronged the balconies of heaven to see the consequences of Helen's betrayal! And your friends are watching too. Your antics have put the shine on many a late-night conversation.
On the borders between mythology and history, that wily survivor Odysseus was the first who learnt to trick the gods. And perhaps his smartest trick of all was that of lashing himself to the mast before the Sirens came in earshot. There are those of course who are happy to stand at the railings, even scan the horizon. Otherwise, choose your mast, find the ropes that suit you: sport, workaholism, celibacy with prayerbook and bell... But the kindest and toughest ropes of all are probably to be found in some suburban semi-detached with rowdy children and a woman who never allows the dust to settle for too long.

ثم نلمح أوديسيوس الذي اتخذ موطنه بين التاريخ و الأسطورة، واسع الدهاء ذاك، الذي نجى بنفسه و كان أول من خدع الآلهة. فقد تجلت عبقريته حين شد الوثاق حول جسده مثبتا إياه في ساري السفينة حتى إذا ما اقتربت أصوات حوريات البحرعجز عن اقتفاء أثرهن. و لكن هناك من يجد سعادته في الوقوف عند مقدمة السفينة محدقا في الأفق. فإذا لم تكن من هؤلاء فتخير لك ساري و ابحث عن الوثاق الذي يناسبك فقد تهوى الرياضة، أوتهب نفسك للعمل، أو تهجر النساء و تعانق المحراب و السبحة... ولكن إعلم يا أبن آدم أن أعذب و أمتن وثاق عرفه المرء يوجد في بيت ما، يقع في ضاحية ما، منعزلا بعض الشيئ، يضج بصياح الصبية و تسكنه امرأة لا تسمح لذرات الملل أن تكسو حوائط عالمها.

Winters used to be cold in England. We, my parents especially, spent them watching the wrestling. The wrestling they watched on their black-and-white television sets on Saturday afternoons represented a brief intrusion of life and colour in their otherwise monochrome lives. Their work overalls were faded, the sofa cover—unchanged for years—was faded, their memories of the people they had been before coming to England were fading too. My parents, their whole generation, treadmilled away the best years of their lives toiling in factories for shoddy paypackets. A life of drudgery, of deformed spines, of chronic arthritis, of severed hands. They bit their lips and put up with the pain. They had no option but to. In their minds they tried to switch off—to ignore the slights of co-workers, not to bridle against the glib cackling of foremen, and, in the case of Indian women, not to fret when they were slapped about by their husbands. Put up with the pain, they told themselves, deal with the pain—the shooting pains up the arms, the corroded hip joints, the back seizures from leaning over sewing machines for too many years, the callused knuckles from handwashing clothes, the rheumy knees from scrubbing the kitchen floor with their husbands' used underpants.
When my parents sat down to watch the wrestling on Saturday afternoons, milky cardamon tea in hand, they wanted to be entertained, they wanted a laugh. But they also wanted the good guy, just for once, to triumph over the bad guy. They wanted the swaggering, braying bully to get his come-uppance. They prayed for the nice guy, lying there on the canvas, trapped in a double-finger interlock or clutching his kidneys in agony, not to submit. If only he could hold out just a bit longer, bear the pain, last the course. If only he did these things, chances were, wrestling being what it was, that he would triumph. كان شتاء انكلترا حقا باردا. كان والداي يمضيان أمسيات الشتاء، في مشاهدة جولات المصارعة، وأنا معهم. كانت تلك الجولات التي يشاهداها مساء كل سبت على أجهزة التلفزيون الأبيض و الأسود بمثابة البصيص الذي يتسلل منه شعاع الدفء و الحياة إلى وجودهما الشاحب. فقد تخلى الزي الذي يرتديانه للعمل عن ألوانه، و نسيج الأريكة المعمر، رحلت عنه نقوشه، وحتى ذكريات ما كانوا عليه قبل مجيئهما إلى إنكلترا، لم يبقى منها سوى صور باهتة. كان والداي، و معهما جيل بأكمله، قد طحنت أيامهم دواليب العمل، ليلتقطوا الفتات. فقد عاشوا حياة الهوان، و الظهور المقوسة، و الأوجاع المزمنة، و الأطراف المبتورة. فما كان منهم إلا أن عضوا على النواجذ و صبروا على البلاء. فلم يكن هناك من ملاذ. و لذا فقد أوصدوا عقولهم، حتى لا تتسلل إليهم سخافات الزملاء، وحتى لا يشيحوا بوجوههم عن رئيس العمال حين ينعق باستفاضة. أما إذا كان الأمر يتعلق بهندية من بنات حواء، فكان هذا يعني أنه عليها أن تتحمل إلى جانب ذلك سوء معاملة زوجها، دون أن تتذمر أو تبدي إعتراضا. "يجب أن أتحمل الألم"، "يجب أن أتعايش مع الألم"، هذا ما كان النساء يحدثن به أنفسهن. الألم الحاد الذي ينهش الأذرع، و الألم الذي يدب في المفاصل المتآكلة، والألم الذي يمزق ظهورا انكبت دهورا على ماكينات الخياطة، و الألم الذي يلهب أصابعا كادت تذوب في مياه غسيل الملابس، و كذلك الألم الذي يدق الركب اللآتي طالما حكت الأرضيات تنظفها مع ما يستعمل من سراويل الأزواج البالية.
ولذا فعندما كان يجلس والداي مساء كل سبت لمشاهدة جولات المصارعة ، يحتسيان الشاي الممزوج بالحليب والهيل، فقد كان ما ينشدان هو التسلية، و ربما أيضا التسرية. و لكن في المقام الأول كانا يأملان أن ينتصر الخير ولو لمرة واحدة على الشر. فكم تاقا إلى رؤية العتى المتعجرف يسقط بعد أن صال و جال، وقد نال منه القدر. وكم توجها بالدعاء إلى الله لكي لا يستسلم الفتى الطيب، الذي هوى على أرض الحلبة في محاولة للتخلص من غريمه الذي أحكم عليه قبضته، أوتقوقع حول نفسه لا يكاد يتنفس من شدة ما أصابه. لو أنه تحامل على نفسه لمدة أطول، لو أنه تجلد، لو أنه صمد حتى نهاية الجولة. لو أنه فعل، فلربما كانت النتيجة في صالحه، فهذا هو شأن المصارعة. وإن كان النصر على هذه الشاكلة يكون نصرا منقوصا. ففي النهاية يطالعك الفائز خائر القوى، بالكاد يقدرعلى رفع ذراعه لرد تحية الحشد. فالنصر ذاك لا غنيمة من ورائه، سوى البقاء على قيد الحياة.

It all began in 2001 when the core staff of Tercümeks Language Services Ltd. came together at Garanti Language Services Ltd. Thanks to the skills of two translators with over 10 years of experience, a veteran office manager who had dealt with project management in the translation sector for many years and the superior effort of experienced, hard-working translators, Garanti Translation has made significant progress in a short amount of time and has expanded its own base of loyal and valued customers by adding the customer portfolio of Tercumex™, which included respected sector leaders, as well as multi-national institutions and government agencies and organizations that define and enforce quality standards. In 2003, Garanti Translation also opened a branch office in Ankara in order to be closer to customers in the public sector.
Shortly after that, it became necessary to restructure in order to adapt to the changing market conditions and Tercümeks Language Services Ltd. was founded in Istanbul in 2004. The Tercumex™ brand name and the slogan “Biz Çeviriyoruz, Dünya Dönüyor…™” (We Spin (translate) and the World Turns) were registered so that our company could continue its business as Turkey’s first translation brand.
Tercumex™ became one of the first translation companies in Turkey to adopt European and American standards in language services by making its project coordinators and employees members of the American Translators Association as well as a variety of vocational chambers and professional associations both in Turkey and abroad. This was how we became acquainted with desktop publishing, localization, translation memory and archive management software, process automation, the principle of confidentiality and corporate solutions partnership model as well as validated translation processes and data security.
In order to offer more affordable translation services between Turkish, English and Slavic languages, Tercumex Language Services Ukraine (Ukraina Tercumex™) was founded in Kiev in 2006, providing Turkish and English translation services for Russian, Ukrainian and all Slavic and Eastern European languages with translators and project coordinators that belong to the American Translators Association.
Tercumex™ currently provides translation, sworn translation, localization, globalization and multi-language desktop publishing services from over 60 languages into Turkish and from Turkish into more than 60 languages with expert translators from different branches and sectors as well as in-house and freelance translators supported by project coordinators, who are members of the American Translators Association, and computer assisted specialist terminology databases that include hundreds of thousands of terms.
Furthermore, Tercumex™ has access to thousands of translators through the ATA network and is still one of the few companies in Turkey that provides Native Speaker Translation services.

تشهد حالة السياسة في الوسط الشيعي نوعا من الضياع والتشتت و الإرباك بفعل الخوف و التخويف الذي مورس على مدار السنتين الأخيرتين نتيجة الانقلاب العام في المشهد السياسي و إعادة تموضع الطوائف من صدور القرار 1559 إلى اغتيال رفيق الحريري و الانسحاب السوري وما إلى ذلك من تداعيات.
بين الحرص على أصالة الماضي اللبناني و الإنتماء إليه و بين تطلعات الوجهة السياسية للطائفة و التزاماتها الإقليمية: أضحت لبنانية المواطن الشيعي موضوع نقاش وجدل سيما وأن الإستقلاليون و السياديون الجدد في قوى 14 آذار لم يتعاطوا مع الأصوات الحرة في البيئة الشيعية سوى مجرد ديكور سياسي لاكتمال الصورة .
بعد تجربة العامين الأخيرين من جلسات الحوار الوطني إلى حرب اموز إلى الإعتصام وخطف وسط بيروت و فشل تأليف حكومة وحدة وطنية وإقفال مجلس النواب وعلى أبواب الإستحقاق الرئاسي وإمكانية فشله: أدركت قوى الأكثرية النيابية كم كان خطئها قاتلا. يوم هربت الإنتخابات عبر قانون غازي كنعان وشدها حنينها إلى الزمن الميليشياوي لتقاسم الحصص والصفقات في الحلف الرباعي وغيره: إن العمل يومها على قانون انتخابي عادل يعتمد على النسبية كان كفيلا لإيصال عدد من أحرار الطائفة الشيعية ولا سيما الجنوبية منها لحماية الوطنية اللبنانية من أية رهانات إقليمية لأن مشروع هؤلاء يبدأ وينتهي عند حدود لبنان الجغرافية.
لا قيمة لأي تغيير ولا رجاء لأية قيامة للبنان إلا بالتغيير نفسه في الوسط الشيعي حصدت قوى 14 آذار خيبتها لأنها غير صادقة، الهوة واسعة بين الشعار والممارسة وصل الأمر إلى الطلاق السياسي والتخوين المتبادل لا ينتج إلا أزمات وحروب بسبب تناقض المشروعيين المحتلفين على هوية لبنان ودوره أصلا. وهذا هو الخطرالحقيقي المحدق بلبنان و بالطائفة الشيعية معا.
يكابر الواقع الشيعي بعدم الإقرار بأزمة مشروعه السياسي على المستويين الطائفي والوطني مستخدما المقاومة مادة دسمة للتوظيف المحلي وأسكات جميع الأصوات وتخوينها إذا اقتضى الأمر.
لكن عن تلك الإشكالية المحيرة للمراقبين والتي تطرح مجموعة أسئلة: كيف ارتدى جسد المقاومة الطاهر ثوب الفساد وعقدا معا زواج متعة وكيف للفساد أن يكون مقاوما وكيف للمقاوم أن يحالف الفساد.
كان ناجي العلي رسام الكاريكاتير الفلسطيني المبدع يسخر من بعض مقاومين القضية الفلسطينية ويصفهم بأثرياء الثورة إذ لا يمكن أن تجتمع الثروة مع الثورة فهما نقيضان من حيث المبدأ بوصفها عمل نضالي ومقاومة تنطلق على إيقاع الهم الوطني كحركة تحرير كفلتها شرائع الأرض والسماء والثروة اللامشروعة بوصفها بطن واسع لاختزان كل أشكال الفساد خصوصا إذا استمدت سيطرتها بفعل خطاب أيدولوجي ذو بعد ديني ومن مسلمات بديهية لا تسلم بالرأي الآخر ولا تؤمن بأي نقاش أو سجال كونها تنطلق من منطلق عقائدي لا يحتمل الشك والتشكيك.
قصارى القول هنا عن الطبقة السياسية الشيعية الذي شكل نظام الوصاية السوري الغطاء الأكبر لها كونها مدينة بوجودها له منذ بدء دولة الطائف وانتهاء الحرب كان المشروع السوري الآخد في التمدد منذ العام 1976 اتخذ جملة مواقف عبدت طريق السيطرة على هذه الطائفة بحسابات طائفية بحتة لها علاقة بالداخل السوري نفسه بالقضاء على رموز الإستقال الشيعي كل من موقعه أبرز بلك المحطات آب 1978، تشرين أول 1984، أيلول 1992 هذه التواريخ والمحطات معروفة لأي متابع للشأن اللبناني.
تم إدخال المقاومة في الأدب السياسي بالمعنى الشعبي أيضا بطريقة أقرب إلى الإستغلال والتوظيف منها إلى الفعل الإيماني بحسب الموروث السائد بفضل الماكينات الإعلامية الضخمة فهي تبدأ بالإنتخابات النيابية وتنتهي بفرن المناقيش، نواب المقاومة، وزراء المقاومة، رئيس مقاوم، وزير مقاوم، مدير عام مقاوم، تلفزيون المقاومة، جريدتها، مجلتها، كشافتها، فتيانها وكل ما له علاقة بالاشكال اليومية للحياة.

How Can the Corrupt be Part of the Resistance

The political situation of the Shia community Is going through a period of disarray and uncertainty caused by the fear and the menace inflicted over the last two years, as a result of the upheaval in the political scene, which has seen the rearranging of the parties position, the issuing of the 1559 resolution, the murder of Rafik Al Hariri, and the Syrian withdrawal with all its repercussions.
Between the wish to preserve the legacy of the Lebanese past, and the sense of belonging to it, and the ambitions of the political façade of the sect, and its regional commitments, the Lebanese nationality of the Shia citizen has become an issue for discussion and dissent, especially as the new advocates of independency and dominion in the March 14 force, where voted for, only to be part of the political décor, and for the sake of a complete picture.
After the experiences of the last two years, made up of national dialogue meetings, the July war, the sit-ins and the abductions in the center of Beirut, the failure in the formation of a national unity government, the closing of the parliament, and the proximity of the presidential elections with the possibility of failure looming: The parliament majority have realized their deadly mistake. The day the election found a way out through Ghazi Kanan law, and its nostalgic yearning for the time of the militias, for the distribution of the shares and the deals by the fourfold party and others. At that time the attempt to create a fair electoral law, based on the criterion of ratios, would have led a number of the independent representatives of the Shia sect, especially in the South, to a position wherefrom to defend Lebanese nationalism from any regional gaming, since schemes of this sort would have to stop at the Lebanese geographical boundaries.
There is no value in change, and no hope in a Lebanese rebirth, without the same change brought about in the Shia community. The force of March 14 harvested its failure because it had not been sincere; for there is a huge gap between slogans and actions. The situation had come down to political divorce and reciprocal accusations of treason. This has led to crises and wars, because of the discrepancy between the two allied projects’ definition of the Lebanese identity and role. This is the source of the real danger impending on Lebanon and its Shia sect.
The Shia’s present standing is in a state of denial when it refuses to admit that its project is facing a crisis on both the sectarian and the national level. It has been exploiting the Resistance for its local purposes, and to silence all voices, accusing them of treason if necessary.
But concerning this dilemma which has confused observers, and which presents a complex question: How did the pure anatomy of the Resistance wear the attire of corruption, and how could they unite in holy matrimony for the sole purpose of material gratification?
Najy Al Aly, the talented Palestinian cartoonist, used to deride some of the members of the opposition of the Palestinian case and to describe them as the revolution’s nouveaux riches, as revolution and wealth cannot co-exist, being by principle opposites. Revolution is, in fact, a struggle born from concern for the nation, so is the movement for liberation, which is sanctioned by human and divine laws, whereas ill-acquired wealth is but an insatiable appetite for all forms of corruption, especially if those who acquired it made their way to power through ideological speech having religious repercussions, and some basic theories, which do not take into consideration the others’ opinions, and do not allow for dissent or dialogue. The reason given is that it is based on dogmas which cannot be questioned or doubted.
To summarize it the Shia political class protected by the Syrian supervisory system, owes its existence to such system, since the Taef Accord and the end of the war. The Syrian project gradually expanding since 1976, has taken certain initiatives that opened the way for the control of this sect. And this was through purely sectarian calculations, related to the Syrian inside, consisting in eliminating the symbols of the Shia independence, and as a matter of fact, the critical milestones of August 1978, October 1984, July 1980, September 1992 are familiar to anyone who follows up the Lebanese situation.
The use of the Resistance in the political literature, in a popular way too, which was more of an implementation and exploitation than a true belief, was the result of the colossal communication machine, which starts with the parliamentary elections, and terminates at the “forge of the Resistance”, which produces the Resistance parliament members, the Resistance ministers, the Resistance president, the Resistance general manager, the Resistance television, newspaper, magazine, the Resistance boy scouts, youths and everything related to everyday life.

العجز المالي، والعلاقات الجنسية .. أهم أسباب عزوف الشباب عن الزواج
أضحت مسألة الزواج في تونس تثير قلق المؤسسات الرسمية والخاصة على حد سواء، إذ حذر الديوان الوطني للأسرة والعمران البشري مؤخراً – مؤسسة حكومية تعنى بشؤون الأسرة – من خطورة ارتفاع معدل سن الزواج و انعكاساته على الخصوبة قي تونس. وقد أشارت في تقرير لها إلى أن عزوبة الإناث في عمر الإخصاب ما بين 25 و 34 سنة باتت تشمل نصف الإناث وقد جاء هذا التقرير ليدعم آخر الإحصائيات الرسمية التي وردت في التعداد العام للسكان من أن عدد العازبات في تونس بلغ أكثر من مليون و 300 ألف امرأة من أصل أربعة ملايين و 900 ألف أنثى في البلاد.
من جهة ثانية أكدت نتائج الاستشارة الشبابية الثالثة، التي تناولت علاقة الشباب بمؤسسة الزواج أن 50 بالمئة منهم لا يفكرون في الزواج وعن مقاييس اختيار القرين أشارت هذه الاستشارة إلى أن 85 بالمئة من الشباب يختارون بأنفسهم شريك حياتهم مقابل 13.8 بالمئة تركوا الاختيار للعائلة، كما أن أغلب الشباب يقدمون السيرة والأخلاق على كل المقاييس.
هذه الأرقام المفزعة جعلت إيلاف تسأل الشباب عن أسباب عزوفه عن مؤسسة الزواج و الدوافع التي تقف حائلا دون ذلك.
تكاليف باهظ
يقول سامي 36 سنة أستاذ تعليم ثانوي: " لقد استبعدت من بالي فكرة الزواج أصلا رغم ضغوطات والدتي المتواصلة، فمن أين لي بتأمين متطلبات الزواج؟؟ فعائلة العروس تفرض شروطا تعجيزية والعروس ذاتها متطلبة كذلك. لقد خطبت مرتين و فسخت الخطوبة للأسباب ذاتها، ورغم أني أتقاضى مرتبا حكوميا إلا انه لا يكفي. المعيشة صعبة وتوفير الحاجيات الأساسية للعيش هو همي الآن، ثم أجاب بحسرة الله يكون في عوننا نحن الشباب؟؟"
" السكن المريح والسيارة الفاخرة والزوج السخي تلك" ثالوث مواصفات فتى أحلام لدى الفتاة التونسية، هكذا تحدث لنا منير 32 سنة الذي يعمل في مقهى صغير في أحد شوارع العاصمة التونسية، مضيفاً: أما إذا كانت الفتاة متعلمة و" بنت جامعة" فتلك الطامة الكبرى، فهي لا تتوانى عن إملاء شروطها التعجيزية وكأنها شهرزاد، ناسية أو متناسية أن هناك طابورا عريضا من الفتيات و حاملات للشهادات أيضاً على قائمة الانتظار بعد أن ركبن قطار العنوسة.
رأي شريف 26 سنة مهندس في الإعلامية لم يختلف عمن سبقوه حيث أضحى الزواج من وجهة نظره صفقة للفتاة والشاب على حد السواء أما الحب والمشاعر الإنسانية و تكوين عائلة سعيدة فذلك" نراه في الأفلام أو في الأحلام " على حد قوله.

إذا كانت الماديات من أبرز العوامل المؤدية إلى نفور هؤلاء الشبان من دخول القفص الذهبي فإن لأيمن 27 سنة طالب في كلية الطب وجهة نظر مختلفة، فثقته في الفتيات التونسيات تلاشت و انعدمت إذ يقول":إن تطور الفتاة و مواكبتها للحياة العصرية جعلها تتخلى عن مبادئها و شرفها خاصة بعد دخولها الحياة الجامعية فالعذرية مع الأسف مصطلح لم يعد له أي قيمة عند الفتاة الجامعية، فهي لا تتوانى عن التخلي عن عذريتها لأول شاب يصادفها، والأدهى من ذلك عمليات " ترقيع العذرية" التي اجتاحت الجامعيات. يواصل: شخصيا لقد اخترت البقاء أعزب حتى لا أصاب بصدمة بعد الزواج.
السبب ذاته برر لـ نديم هروبه من الارتباط الرسمي قائلا" إذا كنت أستطيع العيش مع صديقتي في شقة واحدة وأعاشرها معاشرة الأزواج وتقوم بكل واجباتها على أكمل وجه فلما أسُقِطُ نفسي في مأزق الزواج و ومسؤولياته التي لا تنتهي. ثم إن فتيات اليوم لا يصلحن للزواج و لسن بالقدر الكافي لتحمل مسؤولية الزوج و الأطفال، ويقول: هم الفتاة الآن هو الدراسة و نيل أكبر عدد ممكن من الشهادات الجامعية لا تكوين أسرة، وإذا ما قررت الارتباط في يوم ما فسأكلف أمي بهذه المهمة و شرطي الوحيد في الزوجة أن تكون" بنت دار"و لم تدس قدماها الحرم الجامعي"
الأخلاق هي ذاتها السبب الذي جعل من إيناس تتردد في الارتباط لكنها تعكس الهجوم و تتهم الشبان الذين لا يفكرون جديا في الارتباط و بناء علاقة عاطفية تختم بالزواج.
الماجستير أولا
عفاف فتاة جميلة و متخلقة ومن عائلة محافظة، تقدم لها عشرات من الشبان من ذوي المستوى العالي لكن رغبتها في إتمام شهادة الماجستير جعلتها ترفض كل من يطلب يدها بل و تعتبره عائقا أمام طموحاتها، الآن تقف نادمة و متحسرة بعد أن فاتها قطار الزواج، وصارت على مشارف الأربعين، تؤكد عفاف لإيلاف أنها مستعدة للزواج من أي شاب يطلب يدها حتى و لو كان جاهلا فالمهم لديها الآن هو" إنجاب طفل قبل سن اليأس".
حكاية درة لا تبتعد كثير في تفاصيلها عن حكاية عفاف وهي طبيبة مختصة في أمراض العيون وتستجيب لكل المواصفات التي يتمناها أي رجل، مشكلتها تكمن في أهلها الذين رفضوا الشاب الذي أحبته بحجة أن مستواه اقل بكثير من مستوى ابنتهم. تقول درة" حبيبي معلم تطبيق وضعيته الاجتماعية متوسطة وحين تقدم لخطبتي سمع ما يكرهه من والدتي. لذلك انا الآن وحيدة في مجتمع لا يرحم.
ترى سهام بلعيفة الأستاذة و الباحثة في علم الاجتماع أن كلمة عزوف الشباب التونسي عن الزواج لا تجوز بالمعنى الصحيح، نظرا لكون الشاب أو الفتاة ليس مخيرا دائما في اتخاذ قرار الزواج إذ تقف عدة عوامل حائلا لاتخاذ هكذا نوع من القرارات المصيرية، فهناك معوقات ابتدعها المجتمع من ناحية و فرضتها الحياة العصرية من ناحية ثانية. فارتفاع المستوى التعليمي والثقافي للفتيان و الفتيات في تونس وكلفة الزواج ومسألة الحصول على سكن وسيارة، وتربية الأبناء، إلى غير ذلك من متطلبات الحياة الزوجية العصرية والتي لم تعد تقتصر على العمل و الأكل والإنجاب فقط، بل تحتاج أيضا إلى التأقلم مع متطلبات الحياة وتحدي عصر التكنولوجيا والتعامل معها ومع ارتفاع كل هذه المطالب ارتفع سن الزواج لدى الرجل والمرأة حتى أصبح من الطبيعي أن تتزوج الفتاة فوق الثلاثين.
وفي المقابل فإن انفتاح الشباب التونسي على الغرب أدى بدوره إلى بروز أشكال جديدة للإشباع العاطفي خارج أطر الزواج بالتالي تراجعت قيمة الأسرة لحساب أولويات أخرى كالدراسة والرغبة في التحرر المادي والمعنوي كما أن ارتفاع نسب الطلاق في المجتمع التونسي خلق حذرا و رهبة لدى الشباب من مسألة الزواج.

Limited Financial Resources and Premarital Sex, Responsible for Youths Reluctance to Marry
The issue of marriage has become a concern for both official and private institutions, as the National Organization for Family and Human Development – a government organization concerned with the family - has recently warned from the late average age at marriage and its reflections upon fertility issues in Tunisia. The organization’s report pointed out the fact that the spinsterhood of fertile females between 25 and 34 years of age has now extended to include 50% of the female population. The report came to confirm the latest official statistics based on the demographic census which suggested that unmarried females numbered more than 1,300,000 from a total of 4,900,000 females in Tunisia.
On the other hand the results of the Third National Youth Survey, which researched the attitude of young men toward the marriage institution, revealed that 50% of that population did not consider marriage. As for the criteria in their choice of a partner, the survey revealed that 85% of young men selected their partners themselves, whereas 13.8% delegated this matter to their parents. Moreover most young men favored good reputation and moral conduct to any other criterion.
These dreadful statistics led Elaph to interview young men to find out about their reluctance to marry and the reasons behind it.
Prohibitive costs
Samy, 36 years, a secondary school teacher, says: “I entirely gave up the idea of marriage despite my mother’s constant pressure. How can I afford the costs of marriage? The bride’s family set impossible conditions, and the bride herself has her own requirements. I got engaged twice and on both occasions broke up for the same reasons. I earn a salary from my government job, but it is not sufficient. Livelihood is difficult and providing the basic necessities for subsistence is my present concern”. He then added, with bitterness, “God help us, we youths.”
“A comfortable home, a luxury car, and a generous husband” form the triad for qualifying as prince charming to a Tunisian maiden. This is what Mounir, 32 years old, claims. He has a waiter job in a small coffee shop on one of the streets of the Tunisian capital. He also says: “But if the girl were educated and earned a university degree, then that takes the cake, she wouldn’t hesitate on dictating her unreasonable terms and conditions, as if she were Shahrazad, forgetting or ignoring the fact that there is a long queue of young women, and with degrees too, who are on the waiting list after they boarded the spinsterhood train.
Sherif, a 26 year old IT engineer, has no different opinion; he thinks that marriage has become no more than a business opportunity. Love, human emotions, and the founding of a happy family, can only be seen in movies and dreams.
A virgin, but…?
Although financial issues are the main reason behind these young men shunning the golden cage of matrimony, Ayman, a 27 year-old student of Medicine expresses a different point of view. His confidence in the Tunisian maiden has long evaporated. He claims that: “The Tunisian woman’s emancipation and modernization has led her to give up her morality and honor, especially as she found her way to the university. Purity, unfortunately, has become a meaningless concept for her. She offers her virginity to the first come. And what is even worse is the hymen reparation operation, which now prevails among university students. He also adds: “I personally chose to remain single to avoid delusion after marriage”.
Nadim has the same motive for shunning the wedlock, he explains: “If I can share an apartment with my girlfriend, have sexual intercourse with her, and have her do all the duties expected of her, then why would I complicate my life with marriage and its never ending responsibilities. Moreover, girls these days are no good for marriage, and are not up to the responsibility of having a husband and children. He also says: “Young women now are only concerned with university education and getting the largest number of degrees, and not the founding of a family. Should I one day think about getting married I would delegate my mother on this matter, and my only requisite is that my spouse be a home lover having never set foot on a university campus.
An M.A. first
Afaf is a beautiful virtuous girl from a conservative family. A large number of fine young men proposed to her in the past, but her intention to pursue a Masters degree led her to refuse all of them. She even considered marriage an obstacle to her ambition. Today, however, she regrets that decision after she missed the last carriage of the marriage train at forty years of age. Afaf affirms that she would accept any man who would propose to her should he be illiterate. All she cares about now is having a child before the onset of menopause.
And Durra’s story is not much different from Afaf’s; she is an ophthalmologist and has all the characteristics of the desirable spouse, but her problem is that her parents refused to let her marry the person she loves, because “he is her inferior”. Durra says: “the young man I love is a grammar teacher of an average social level. When he met my parents to ask for me in marriage, my mother was not particularly courteous to him. Now I am lonely in a cruel society.
Seham Beleifa, Ph.D and researcher in Sociology, is of the opinion that the expression “reluctance of Tunisian youths to marry” is inaccurate, as the young man or woman is not completely free to take the marriage decision. Many factors interfere in this vital decision. Some of these factors were made up by society and others were inflicted by the realities of modern life. The high educational and cultural level of both male and female Tunisians, in addition to the cost of marriage and the necessity of acquiring an apartment and a car, and the raising up of kids. All this and further necessities for the life for a modern couple, that are no longer confined to work, food and procreation. The need for adaptation to meet life challenges in this era of technology has become an exigency, and with life necessities increase in sophistication, the median marrying age increased for both sexes, and it became a normal thing for a young woman to marry in her thirties.
On the other hand exposure to the Western civilization has given birth to alternative channels for the satisfaction of emotional needs, away from the wedlock. As a result, the value of family life lost ground to other priorities, such as education, and financial and emotional independence. Furthermore, high divorce rates in the Tunisian society have resulted in youths approaching the issue of marriage with feelings of hesitancy and apprehension.

I miei primi ricordi delle Feste mi riportano ad abitudini molto diverse da quelle di oggi.
…Dunque le Feste. Attese. Vagheggiate. Gioiose.
Cominciavano con le letterine, indirizzate ai genitori, cara mamma e caro papà, sempre le stesse con scarsa fantasia. Piene di buoni propositi: sarò buono, sarò obbediente, vi voglio bene, eccetera. Ne conservo ancora qualcuna insieme alle pagelle della prima e della seconda elementare.
L'apertura ufficiale arrivava la sera del 24 dicembre. Il cenone della vigilia. E il presepe. Anzi presepio. Ci avevano lavorato a lungo, bambini e genitori. Avevano raccolto la vellutina in campagna e nei giardini delle città. I personaggi del presepio venivano conservati da un anno all'altro e così le casette dei contadini, le pecore dei pastori, i tre Re magi, la Madonna col suo manto azzurro e San Giuseppe che non so perché risultava calvo, forse per dargli un sembiante da persona anziana e senza le tentazioni della carne. E il bambino. Il bambino Gesù, un corpicino nudo o appena velato per nascondere il sesso.
…Finita la cena, i bambini recitavano una poesiola o leggevano la letterina. Poi andavano a dormire e venivano svegliati pochi minuti prima della mezzanotte. Si formava un piccolo corteo col bimbo più piccolo in testa che portava il bambino Gesù e lo deponeva nella culla vigilata dalla mucca e dall'asino. La cerimonia finiva lì e si tornava a dormire, ma non era facile riprender sonno anche perché si sapeva che al risveglio avremmo trovato i regali.
I regali del Natale erano tuttavia leggeri. Una bambolina per le femmine, ai maschi un gioco dell'oca o il meccano che allora era in voga, abituava a una manualità molto incoraggiata dai maestri della scuola.
I grandi, genitori e altri parenti e amici, non si scambiavano regali tra loro, non era uso. L'albero di Natale ci era del tutto sconosciuto e lo stesso Babbo Natale - almeno nelle regioni del Centro e del Sud - non esisteva. Qualche vaga eco ce ne arrivava da conoscenti che abitavano a Milano e Torino. Da Roma in giù di papà Natale non si aveva notizia. | Translation - Arabic
نحملني ذكرياتي الأولى عن الأعياد إلى عادات بعيدة كل البعد عن عادات يومنا هذا.. الأعياد... نعم ... الأعياد. كنا نرتقبها، نتوق اليها و نسعد بها.
كانت الأعياد تبدأ بالرسائل الصغيرة التي نوجهها الى والدينا، أمي العزيزة و أبي العزيز، كانت دائما متشابهة، تفتقر إلى الخيال. لكنها كانت مليئة بالنوايا الحسنة: سأكون مهذبا، سأكون مطيعا، أحبكما، و ما إلى ذلك... ما زلت أحتفظ ببعض تلك الرسائل كما أحتفظ بأولتا شهاداتي الدراسية.

كانت الهدايا على كل حال بسيطة. دمية صغيرة للبنات، وللصبية لعبة السلم والثعبان أو لعبة الميكانو التركيبية التي اشتد رواجها في ذلك الحين، حيث كانت تكسبنا مهارات يدوية كثيرا ما شجعنا عليها معلمونا في المدرسة.
أما الكبار، أبوانا و بقية الأهل و الأصدقاء، فما كانوا يتبادلون الهدايا إذ لم يعتادوا ذلك. و شجرة عيد الميلاد كانت مجهولة تماما بالنسبة لنا و كذلك بابا نويل فلم يكن له وجود على الأقل في وسط البلاد وجنوبها . بالكاد كانت تصلنا أصداء بعيدة عنهما من معارفنا في مدينتي ميلانو و تورينو. ولكن من مدينة روما فما أبعد جنوبا ما كان أحد قد سمع بابا نويل خبر.
