About me

I am a newly graduate of Japanese language program of University of Colorado at Boulder and I am currently a freelance translator of two Taiwan-base companies as well. During my study at CU Boulder, I had a very pleasant experience working with my professor on various translation projects.
I grew up in Taiwan speaking Mandarin Chinese and have received 12-year formal training in Chinese language. In order to pursue further education, I moved to the U.S. after I graduated from high school. With my keen interest in learning foreign language and my fascination about Japanese culture, I chose Japanese as my major. In the past four years, I have worked hard on both my English and Japanese language skills. As a result, I have a very solid background in modern Chinese language and I am also proficient in both English and Japanese. Since the summer of 2007, I have been working as a freelance translator, translating (from English and Japanese into Chinese) and proofreading various technical documents in computer and telecommunication related fields. These working experiences gave me a great opportunity to gain more insight into the translation industry and to learn to use translation memory tools such as Trados. All of these, I believe, are invaluable experience and provide me with a strong foundation to work as a translator.
My strongest point is that I am very enthusiastic in translation. Most importantly, I have a strong desire to learn. In addition, I have basic knowledge of using computer aided tools and have great sense of responsibility. I believe that the combination of my experiences, education, and motivation to excel will make me an ideal candidate.
