I am used to working with Trados. But since a few weeks, I am also using Catalyst 7.0. From the beginning on, I discovered that Fuzzies and 100% Matches are not showing correctly. When I open a new job in Catalyst I see the strings organized by Locked, Untranslated, For review, and Signed off. The ones For review are the Fuzzies. So far, so good. My Fuzzies are set to 70%.

With several projects now, I discovered while translating in Catalyst that those strings that I translate during the job are not available in the TM. They also don't show up as Fuzzies or Matches. I had a situation where I had four times in a row exactly the same sentence to translate. After the first translation, I was expecting (like in Trados) a 100% Match for the rest. Nothing! I had to write the same sentence four times. I couldn't even copy it from the previous string. The sentence also didn't show up in the memory. I asked the client and they told me to check the Fuzzies setting. But the setting is fine.

My question - is there another setting that I am missing? Or, my suspicion, are only those strings that are marked as signed off included in the TM. That would mean that I am not building up the TM while I am working, but this will only happen when the next person signs off the strings. Could that be the problem? And how do I than price my translation? The customer gives me the same gliding scale for the price as with Trados.

Today, I also discovered that every 5 minutes or so I get a message that the license I am using is expired or something else is wrong and Catalyst has to shut down. I click ok and nothing happens aside from the fact that I get nervous about this. It doesn't shut down, it works, but what does it mean? I bought the license at the beginning of the year.

Thank you for your help!

Hi Hildegard,

Catalyst support team is very helpful when it comes to installation/licensing issues (well, these are the only ones I have dealt so far, and they are always prompt), and so I highly recomment that you contact them about the warning message.

Are you running this on Vista? Did you installed/downloaded anything new today? (April 1st is tomorrow and so just be careful.)

As for the TM issues, you should be able to view whatever you've just typed in the current session once you Save (ctrl + S) or Set Translation (ctrl + alt + End, if you set up a TM, either ttk or trados TM).

Hi Hildegard,

Have you checked the option in Tools | Options | Glossary - "Display glossary suggestions from current Project TTK" ?

Also could you please send me your license.log from C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Alchemy Software\Catalyst 7.0 and generate a new activation request. Please send this all to [email protected]

Sometimes the software loses the connection to the license file and therefore you receive this message.

Thanks,
Jette

Can't find that option Dec 8, 2009

I'm having the same problem, but I can't find the option Tools | Options | Glossary - "Display glossary suggestions from current Project TTK"

I would be most thankful for any suggestions.
