We bought this plaque (probably made of sandstone) at a second-hand market in Picardy, France. We've been unable to identify the language of the inscription, and been assured that it is not modern French, Latin or Spanish.

It would be great to hear if anyone has any ideas on what language it is.

Hi trevorgina,
Look at the link below. There is a picture of the same lamb, from Cluny. Should be their (and may be ours) symbol:
The Paschal Lamb was the centerpiece of the fifth bay of the narthex of the Abbey of Cluny. The Latin inscription: HIC PARVUS SCULPOR AGNUS IN CELO MAGNUS means "here I am carved like a little lamb, in heaven I'm great"
