I recently moved to England from Italy (I am Italian). Can someone give me an advice on how to start out as a freelance translator in England? ie Do I need to register at some \"tax office\"?

Since in the UK you are usually classed as being self-employed (you register with your local tax office) but I think you require a National Insurance Number and I can\'t remember where you got that. Your local tax office will be able to tell you. A visit may ... See more

Your local tax office will be able to tell you. A visit may be productive. Only if you plan on earning more than +/- £ 50,000 per year do you have to register for VAT. ▲ Collapse
