URGENT, can anyone give me a good source to defend myself as a company who provides work to independant interprters and sends them a 1099 at tjhe end of the year?

Employment Comm. in my state is saying they are employees and not sub-contractred althoug they signed contract, not receiving training, etc

thanks

Perhaps you can contact the US Chamber of Commerce (or the Chamber for your state?) for more assistance.

This also contains the list of criteria used by the IRS to determine this status. Note: the date on this is 1997, so it might be out of date.
