Hi Everyone,

I know my topic may sound weird while most of you would say "use the google to find one". The fact is I am not looking for just a lawyer, I am trying to find one who is quite knowledgeable with our freelancer world. I have a problem with a client located in U.K., since 11 months I am trying to reach them by phone/mail -no chance, my gray cells are frozen! My insurance policy in Turkey does not cover overseas risks (I made it only for other continents) since I haven't even thought this can happen in Europe.

I really will appreciate a lot if any of you would suggest something.
Thanks in advance to all of you.

I'd probably start from The Law Society site Feb 17, 2009

Under Business Affairs perhaps?

Are you sure you need a lawyer at this point? Feb 17, 2009

You may want to look into the Small Claims Court (just google it) first. If the money they owe you is below a certain threshold (5K in England and Wales, 3K in Scotland if I am not mistaken), you don't need a lawyer to take the matter to court. You may need a lawyer to enforce the judge's ruling afterwards if they still refuse to pay, though, but it may be worth trying (it is supposed to be easy, quick and inexpensive). And who knows?, if they have a reputation to protect, just mentioning you intend to start such procedure could do the trick.

Blue Board entry? Feb 18, 2009

Hi Ebru,

Also, would you like to consider making a BB entry, so that others are warned about a bad payer?

Regards,

Piotr
