To find publishers for the (wonderful) books I've translated.
Unfortunately, publishers in the English speaking world are swamped by manuscripts in English and have no time for translations, especialy when the originals are old enough to be out or copyright. Even prize winners in the premier literary translation competions can't get their work published.
Self publishing of e-books might be the answer.

I'm on a long term interpreting project hundreds of miles from home at the moment, so I do a weekly commute. If I could find a decent source of interpreting work closer to where I live, I would happily jack it in so I can have more time with my kids. I feel like I barely know my baby, and he definitely views me as good for play only - as soon as it's bath/food/nappy/cuddle time, only mummy will do. I'd like to change that state of affairs.

Hear hear!
2012 will be the year I finally stop translating for a very large European government organisation because I'm fed up being paid peanuts for what must be quite important work, given who they are.

I was thinking about specializing in one or two fields... Seems to be a tougher decision than the decision to become a translator though...
