Hi,

I´d like to know whether it is possible to import a text file of a DVX project into a Trados TM and then using this TM pretranslate a document in Trados, creating a blingual Trados file. I´ve already tried this but there seems to be a problem with codes in the DVX text file that needs to be corrected with a macro of some sort (???). Could someone please tell me whether this is as complicated as it seems or not. I can then advise a client who uses Trados whether this is feasible or not.

Thanks in advance,
Jason.

The best way to ensure Trados/DVX 100% compatibility is to Trados segment the source files with TWB and then import them into a DVX project using the Trados WB filter. You can then either deliver the exported translation as an uncleaned file to allow the customer to update his TM or clean up the file locally in TWB and deliver the updated TM.

You can also export the DVX TM (MDB) directly as TMX or txt, but there may be a few DVX codes that TWB won't use. You can remove such codes easily with Enlaso's Olifant tool (Remove Inline codes). However, exchanging TWB segmented files is the best way to ensure full compatibility between TWB and DVX.
