如果人们不能客观认识这场战争的错误根源，或是不情愿认识到问题的根本，那就很难避免将来的类似战争。
我记得很清楚，我们当时这里的媒体就明确说没有确凿证据证明伊拉克有大规模杀伤武器。我还记得当时法国反对这场战争，也是预先考虑到要面对美国的强大压力，因为法国的第一贸易伙伴是美国，当然还有更大的政治压力。
这是我刚查到的希拉克总统2003年3月18日的有关声明，我看他的措辞是留有相当余地的了。这份声明是当时对全世界发表的，不可能作弊。

请不要忘记，要对一个国家发动战争，需要慎重再慎重，要有确凿的证据，还应该争取用一切可能的其它手段解决问题，战争只能是没办法的办法，不到万不得已不能采用的手段。
如果你认为我查到的法文资料还不能说明问题，也许你可以查查当时反对这场战争的中国、俄国、德国的有关资料，这样会有一个较全面的认识。

I totally agree with that. And I doubt anyone else here disputes it.
All I'm trying to say regarding the Iraq war is, we have to look at world events from a historic perspective.

Well, for some reason I have trouble editing my posts in this thread. And I regret using the word "fiction".
But anyway, I don't dispute anything you quoted from the French version of this link. I just like the English version better. Not to mention I lived through that period and at the time was actually concerned enough to keep up with what was going on at the United Nations.
