总理“道德血液论”为何遭开发商的公开叫板 Apr 27, 2011

这篇文章有一定的道理。记得 Zhoudan 以前也说过,房价高与地方政府想增加财政收入有关。如果靠卖地而产生GDP,那么超日本的GDP将大打折扣。地方政府卖地越多,“许三多”也就越多。这位“许三多”比宋思明还帅吧?

Where the name "Kanji" came from Apr 28, 2011

I just realized that "Kanji", the term that refers to the Chinese characters used in the Japanese writing system, means "汉字". Boy, the phonetic resemblance is really marginal, if you ask me. I've never made the connection until now.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanji

~*~*~*~*~*

Incidentally, that reminded me of "congee", the word often used for "粥", or "稀饭". Curious as to how the name came about, I did a search on the web. This is one of the explanations that seemed quite plausible ...

http://www.homemade-chinese-soups.com/congee.html

What about congee?

I think congee came from the Indian language because the Indians have a similar rice dish called ganji except it is supposed to be grainer and sweet. The way I see it, the British went to India and encountered ganji. Then they arrived in China and met jook. The similarity between the ganji and jook was noticed and "congee" was born (this is mere speculation, please do not cite me).

~*~*~*~*~*

For corroboration, here's what the Merriam-Webster Dictionary says ...

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/congee

Definition of CONGEE
: porridge made from rice

Origin of CONGEE
Tamil kañci water from cooked rice
First Known Use: 1930

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/kanji

Definition of KANJI
: a Japanese system of writing that utilizes characters borrowed or adapted from Chinese writing; also : a single character in the kanji system

Origin of KANJI
Japanese
First Known Use: 1920

Kseniya Simonova's culture breaking art of story telling through sand animating. May 12, 2011

by Ramona
05-Sep-2009

Kseniya Simonova (born 1985) is a sand animator from Ukraine who recently won the "Ukraine's got talent" award. Using a giant light box, poignant music, lively imagination and a marvelous magical sand painting talent, she portrays her images of life during Ukraine's Great Patriotic War against Nazi Germany.

This beautiful creative 24 year old artist first started making these type of drawings last year on the beach. Her imaginal meanderings gradually progressed to a unique way of telling a moving human story on a moving sand canvass. Using nothing but sand and her hands, she creates amazing images that speak to the core of humanity. Anyone whose country has been torn apart through war, occupation or invasion can relate to her artistic story. And witness with what confident, emotive use of strokes of hands and fingers, she transfers her mental images into evolving visual images on sand, right before our very eyes!

The seemingly effortless manner in which she moves her hands and fingers on her sand canvass, harmonizing every stroke with a moving piece of music is simply awe-inspiring. A well deserved tearful response and standing ovation by the audience. This is what's known as real art and a talented artist.

请欣赏沙画家24岁乌克兰少女谢尼娅·西莫诺娃(Kseniya Simonova)的“沙动画”(Sand Animation);

这部只有8分多钟的短片是乌克兰电视节目《乌克兰有天才》(Ук ра1111;на ма1108; талант / Ukraine's Got Talent)中的一个比赛短片。

整个故事所描述的,是1941-1945前苏联的一个普通家庭在第二次世界大战中的经历:

1)和平:幽静的夜色,繁星点缀。一对恋人正依坐在路边的长座椅上,背后的路灯散发着光芒,让生活充满了爱和美好憧憬;

http://v.youku.com/v_show/ id_XMTE5Njc2MDg0.html

“许三多”目前最多只能排第七 May 13, 2011

Greed

Greed (Latin, avaritia), also known as avarice or covetousness, is, like lust and gluttony, a sin of excess. However, greed (as seen by the church) is applied to a very excessive or rapacious desire and pursuit of wealth, status, and power. St. Thomas Aquinas wrote that greed was "a sin against God, just as all mortal sins, in as much as man condemns things eternal for the sake of temporal things." In Dante's Purgatory, the penitents were bound and laid face down on the ground for having concentrated too much on earthly thoughts. "Avarice" is more of a blanket term that can describe many other examples of greedy behavior. These include disloyalty, deliberate betrayal, or treason,[citation needed] especially for personal gain, for example through bribery. Scavenging[citation needed] and hoarding of materials or objects, theft and robbery, especially by means of violence, trickery, or manipulation of authority are all actions that may be inspired by greed. Such misdeeds can include simony, where one profits from soliciting goods within the actual confines of a church.

As defined outside of Christian writings, greed is an inordinate desire to acquire or possess more than one needs, especially with respect to material wealth.[15]

http://news.cnfol.com/090807/101,1596,6313847,00.shtml

羊毛出在羊身上。行贿者的贿金当然还是来自国家、来自纳税人。行贿者在所承包工程中偷工减料。正因为如此,桥塌、路陷、楼倒等事故屡见不鲜。

“撼”与“汗” May 17, 2011

该窃贼游览故宫时临时起意、从容作案,如入无人之境,事后居然还能从10米高墙直接跳下而遁,且毫发无损。恐怕连“燕子李三”也得甘拜下风。若美国海豹特种部队得知,定会汗颜且感到无比震撼! 窃贼唯一不足之处就是与故宫一样没文化,不识国宝,只捡外观华丽者偷。
