I posted a question which shows up for a while and suddenly disappears. I do not know when it will come back normal. Do anyone experience this problem?

Proz has been a bit crappy today... I think they are doing some maintenance work on the website. Another possibility is that someone might have squashed your question. If so, you should have gotten a notification. Did you?

I also suspect my question was squashed even though got no notification. However, Maintenance for a single day is unusual for the website, isn't it?

SZ Jul 7, 2004

I will definitely drop by if I am in the vicinity. I haven't made up my mind whether to go to Yunnan or Hong Kong. If I finally choose the latter, I'd definitely go to SZ.....

Squashing questions Jul 8, 2004

I have that function, but honestly I do not know how I got it. I don't think it has to do with my Platinum status since I already have that function before I did the upgrade. It could be the Kudoz points but I'm not sure...

There are several reasons why someone would squash your questions. Here are those provided by Proz:
- Offensive (sexist, racist, etc.)
- Adult nature and/or profane
- Unprofessional; lacks literary/technical merit
- Nonsense
- Repetition (ie. exactly same as prev/next question)
- Text to be translated is longer than ten words
- Includes more than one term question
- Not a KudoZ question
- Incomplete question
- Asker and answerer the same

HTH (= hope that helps)

The squashing feature automatically activated after having 500 Kudoz points. Jul 8, 2004

Thank you, Denyce, for answering Carol's question in regarding to squashing the KudoZ questions! You got the right answer for her. To clarify your confusion, any paid member at ProZ.com will have the squashing feature automatically activated after he or she has accumulated the Kudoz points to 500. For those who have the squashing feature activated, please do use it when you see any violation and help to maintain the site.

By the way, Surfish, I checked the Kudoz questions in the last few days, and did not see any squashed KudoZ. This means your KudoZ question was not squashed.

Kevin
