Dear colleagues, I will appreciate any suggestion on this matter: one of my husband's colleagues has been working on Taiwan for a few years, his daughter started her schooling there. Then they have moved to Canada, and the parents want her to keep and improve her Chinese. So does the girl, but as a teenager now, she is quite picky on the texts she has to read etc., etc.... without knowing her current proficiency. Some metro areas have Chinese schools after-school and on weekends. Sometimes regular schools have Chinese classes. Your friend can also take her to a Chinese bookstore and select those books that are not too difficult and that she is interested in.
