Now You Really Got Me!
Nov 18, 2006
pk,
After all these songs, now you really got me. I mean I do enjoy all the songs under this thread. Some are familiar to me and some are not. But now you got me thinking about all these girls with lovely faces that I used to see everyday......I wish them well, and I am sure most of them probably are, busy as all mothers do or whatever.
You see, I kind of mixed up this song with the last one you posted, signs of slipping memory I guess. But the minute I saw the lyric here, I started singing, and am amazed at myself for being able to sing all these words accurately. Am I still that young?

WHERE HAVE ALL THE FLOWERS GONE
words and music by Pete Seeger
performed by Pete Seeger and Tao Rodriguez-Seeger
Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the flowers gone?
Girls have picked them every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?
Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the young girls gone?
Taken husbands every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?
Where have all the young men gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the young men gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the young men gone?
Gone for soldiers every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Gone to graveyards every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?
Where have all the graveyards gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the graveyards gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the graveyards gone?
Covered with flowers every one
When will we ever learn?
When will we ever learn?
(Oh! I really hope you remember
Those happy days when we were friends.
In those times life was more beautiful
And the sun brighter than today's.
The dead leaves gather on the rake.
You see, I have not forgotten...
The dead leaves gather on the rake,
As do the memories and the regrets,
And the north wind carries them
Into the oblivion of the cold night.
You see, I have not forgetten
The song that you used to sing to me.)
Refrain
(It's a song that resembles us.
You, you loved me and I loved you
And we lived together,
You who loved me, I who loved you.
But life separates those who love,
Gently, without making a sound,
And the sea erases from the sand-
The footsteps of separated lovers.)
(The dead leaves gather on the rake
As do the memories and the regrets
But my love, quiet and loyal,
Always smiles and is grateful for life.
I loved you so much, you were so beautiful.
How can you expect me to forget you?
In those times, life was more beautiful
And the sun brighter than today's.
You were my kindest friend
But I only created regrets
And the song that you used to sing,
I hear it always, always...)

Nov 19, 2006
The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sun-burned hands I used to hold
Since you went away the days grow long
And soon Ill hear old winters song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

Song: How Great Thou Art Lyrics
Oh Lord my God
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works
Thy hands have made
I see the stars
I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout
The universe displayed
Then sings my soul
My Saviour, God, to Thee
How great thou art
How great thou art
Then sings my soul
My Saviour, God, to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art
When Christ shall come
With shouts of adulation
And take me home
What joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow
In humble adoration
And there proclaim My God
How great Thou art
Then sings my soul
My Saviour, God, to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art
Then sings my soul
My Saviour, God, to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear
Nov 22, 2006
Amazing Grace
(Judy Collins)
Lyric:
Amazing Grace how sweet the sound
that saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now I'm found
was blind but now I see.
T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear
and Grace my fears releived.
How precious did that Grace appear
the hour I first beleived.
Through many dangers toils and snares
I have already come.
T'was Grace that lead me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.
When we've been there ten thousand years
bright shining as the sun
we've no less days to sing God's praise
then when we first begun.

Thanks, pk. Yes, indeed. We all need to be thankful to these soldiers and the ones before them that made the ultimate sacrifice. They are the reason we enjoy the peace we have today.
As you know we get our fair share of Christian music in this country. But I really liked the sound of Justin Trevino, so I sent for his CD "Before We Say Amen". I mostly like country, easy listening, and Broadway musicals. All that rap music and Britney Spears stuff I can do without.

Before I dry the tears she's crying
Nov 23, 2006
GLEN CAMPBELL | Galveston Lyrics
Galveston, oh Galveston, I still hear your sea winds blowin'
I still see her dark eyes glowin'
She was 21 when I left Galveston
Galveston, oh Galveston, I still hear your sea waves crashing
While I watch the cannons flashing
I clean my gun and dream of Galveston
I still see her standing by the water
Standing there lookin' out to sea
And is she waiting there for me?
On the beach where we used to run
Galveston, oh Galveston, I am so afraid of dying
Before I dry the tears she's crying
Before I watch your sea birds flying in the sun
At Galveston, at Galveston
