When I try to download something from a particular site, I recieve a message that the connection was reset by peer. How do I resolve this?
Answer:
A connection reset by peer message means that the site you are connected to has reset the connection. This is usually caused by a high amount of traffic on the site, but may be caused by a server error as well. You will need to contact the site administrator or webmaster and inform them of this error message if it persists.
Usually waiting a short amount of time and trying to access that site again is all it takes to get through to it.

在网上搜了一下，发现也有说与当地ISP的连接有关，当连接链路和速率不佳的情况 下，与ISP的连接瞬间中断会造成对所访问的站点或信息丢失的情况。

这里，可能是对方的服务器无法和您的通信，因而自动复位。但问题可出在任何一方上。比方说，您用上传软件把一份10MB的文件传到一个网站上，但总到了半路就断开，也是其中一种现象。这说明对方的服务器可能有防火墙，不容许大文件长期传输；或干脆是对方的MODEM之类的设备出问题；也有可能是您的ISP的服务器或其它设备出问题，无法和对方“握手”（handshake）。
俺也许是瞎说。

我的邮件没有内容，只有几份附件，而且都不超载。如果能顺利通过证明你的理论成立，否则我再告你原因。但你得准备暂时牺牲你的邮箱，怎么样，干不干？

But I was wrong. What Yahoo has done speaks volumes of the fact that I was, as well as many others were, wrong.
