Have a heartwarming holiday season! Dec 20, 2006

Hello, Wilman, Denyce, and all the wonderful translators

It suddenly became very cold last couple days. We also had power outage for a couple nights. Last weekend, I put up my all-made-in-China plastic tree and all the lights, it was like an annual ritual, everything looks as good as it can be. I also began to pick up the holiday spirit gradually as the holidays approaching.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support and help to make this

let 's accelerate the multi-cultural trendency overall the world Dec 21, 2006

Hello everyone,
nice to get your greeting here. I also wish you all merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Hello everyone,
nice to get your greeting here. I also wish you all merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Frankly speaking, Christmas day is not our tradional holiday. However, in the recent years we also get used to celebrate it, like the people in the West. But we celebrate it cheerfully, not quietly like in Europe, for example in Germany, the tradional Christain country. That means, we are making Christmas day Chinese, just like the world is making us international.
Is it not like the official new year, which was developed from the ancient Roman calendar, but is accepted by the whole world over time? You could not say, the two events are firmly different. If you trace back the history, you would find, both of them have a religious background. If we could together account the last 10 second on the Tiananmen Square in 2000, why could not we celebrate Christmas day.
The influnce from the West on China is amazingly. But the Chinese culture is also spreading overall the world now. Every year when the spring fest comes, when die chinese people celebrate their whole traditional holidays, the media wordwide also focus on us. The people, expect for Chinese, know about it, but not yet celebrate it with us together.
If we could not stop the multi-cultural trendency on the earth, why not to accelerate it. Accelerate it, so that the people all over the world celebrate spring festival with us together; accelerate it, so that the Chinese language become the international language; accelerate it, so that ...

Christmas probably means different things to different people. Here's one music video among many out there that I like.

Denyce, Thanks for letting me know. Here's the same clip in a much smaller format. The mood of the bigger frame is more engaging, but this'll have to suffice...

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas Dec 22, 2006

The first recorded version sung by Judy Garland in Meet Me In St. Louis (1944)
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,
Let your heart be light
Next year,
All our troubles will be out of sight
Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Make the yuletide gay
Next year all our troubles will be miles away
Once again as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who were near to us
Will be near to us once more

Someday soon we all will be together
If the fates allow.
Until then, we'll have to muddle through somehow
So have yourself a merry little Christmas now.

[edit] Alternate "brighter" version (Frank Sinatra version)
(Introduction)
Christmas future is far away
Christmas past is past
Christmas present is here today
Bringing joy that may last
Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Let your heart be light
From now on,
our troubles will be out of sight
Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Make the Yule-tide gay,
From now on,
our troubles will be miles away.
Here we are as in olden days,
Happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who are near to us
Gather near to us once more.
Through the years
We all will be together,
If the Fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough.
And have yourself A merry little Christmas now.
