This is entirely off-topic.
I have been sent a message which I *think* is written in Chinese. The sender is challenging my linguistic ability and so it is a matter of pride that I manage to identify the language and translate it!

Can anyone please confirm
1. Whether this is indeed Simplfied Chinese?
2. If not, what language it might be?
3. If yes, suggest any translation?

Hi Wendy,
It's chinese, I can't tell you if it's traditional or simplified chinese because these two ideograms are the same in traditional chinese and simplified chinese.
Well, it's very bad written, I am not sure that it's a child's writing beacause a chinese child wouldn't write like that.
For the meaning, the first ideogram "wei" means : power, prestige. The second one "yuan" means : institute, court.

I know, sorry about that.
I received the message in a picture to my mobile phone, and so the only way to copy it was for me to copy it by hand.
As you can see, it is a question. There is a possibility it is as simple as "how are you" "do you want to go for a drink next week" etc, as this is the sort of message this person has sent me in the past.
Does that help provide any meaning?
I will try to copy the message better.

Thanks, PK. That's it, the cinema. Kino is a German word. I mix up languages often.
