DVX .tmx file not importing into Trados: why?

Hi all,

I recently delivered a .tmx file exported from DVX to a client who uses Trados. She tells me it won't export and "nombre de referencia cultural all no compatible" comes up.

We both have our memories set to ES-EN(UK).

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks,
Jason.

Details please Nov 16, 2011

Hi Jason,

Are you using DVX1 or DVX2 (and which build)?

There are 3 versions of Trados, 2007, 2009 and 2011. Do you know which version is used?

Hello Jason
The cause of the problem is in the header of the TMX file exported from Dejavu DVX:

1. Open the TMX file exported with a plain text editor.
2. Search for a entry similar like this in the first 20 lines:

<header
creationtool="DejaVu"
creationtoolversion="4"
datatype="PlainText"
segtype="sentence"
adminlang="en-us"
srclang="*all*"
o-tmf="DVMDB"

(my working language is US English)

3. Change the entry __srclang="*all*"___ into the same entry as listed unter "adminlang" - in my case, it will be __srclang="en-us"___.

4. Save your file and import into Trados.

Header changed in the latest build of DVX2 (505) to ensure easier exchange of TMX files, that is why I asked the version and build used by Jason.

DVX version 7.5.338 and Trados 2007 Nov 16, 2011

Hi Wieland,

Thank you for your reply. I use DVX version 7.5.338 and Trados 2007 and in principle my client has resolved this problem.

Thank you very much for your help, much appreciated!
Jason.

In fact, this is a Trados bug.

The statement srclang="*all*" is a valid TMX parameter and means all the languages can be considered as source.
As Trados TM us unidirectional, the Trados programmers simply didn't imagine this kind of situation and don't handle it.

Cheers
GG
