I have been receiving big tmx files from clients - around 70 MB. DVX cannot handle these when trying to import them into a memory. Does anybody know how to get around this? What is the maximum DVX can handle? Thank you, John Simpson

Hi John, That big a file usually comes from the presence of graphic images. There's a quick macro to workaround that issue--and get those images back exactly where they were when you're finished! See: http://www.necco.ca/dv/word_macros.htm Click on "Removing and Re-inserting Graphics" Follow instructions. It's truly magical! HTH ... Have you tried to import the files via the Project Explorer instead of importing them via the Project Wizard? What kind of error message do you get?

When importing the tmx in the Wizard either the 'Select target language combination' command does not appear or the progress bar does not respond. When the 'Select target language...' fails an information box detailing the failure appears. I have the impression that the 'removing and reinserting graphics' tool is for a Word document that you are going to translate. This is not my case. where does the tmx come from | Aug 27, 2007 |
in theory tmx should be a standard, but a lot of applications have their own tmx flavour. you could try to import in a trados tm (if you have Trados) and export as Trados txt. import this to dvx. kind regards Judy Ann

I have a 118 MB MS-Glossary DVX TM and when I export it to Trados text or TMX, the progess bar moves only once per half an hour, on a Pentium 4. I imported it some years ago, and I think this took a night or a weekend.

Latest build 302 is much more better when importing/exporting TMs. I have TMs bigger than 250 MB, so size is not so important.

I just checked a tmx file, that could not be imported into a TM Tool, the file was corrupted, so this might be the reason here too.
