Hallo, ik zou graag een nieuwe TM maken uit een brontekst en doeltekst. Dat moet toch simpel zijn, maar ik kan niet vinden hoe ik dat moet doen. Kan iemand mij helpen?

Daar heb je het hulpprogramma WinAlign voor nodig (als het goed is staat het in het startmenu, bij de andere Trados-hulpprogramma's). Dat is overigens niet echt supersimpel, maar met een beetje nadenken en opletten kom je er wel uit.
Ik heb op dit moment helaas geen tijd om je uitgebreid uitleg te geven, maar je hebt nu in ieder geval de richting.

Moet volgens mij in elke CAT-tool kunnen

Ik gebruik voor dergelijke zaken Wordfast Anywhere, daarin zit een Aligner die je de TM per email toestuurt. Heeft wel een beperkt aantal talencombinaties waarvoor dat kan, dus als je bijvoorbeeld Swahili-Nederlands zoekt kun je volgens mij beter je eigen CAT-tool proberen.

RTF-bestanden

RTF-bestanden werken het best. Je zou het "alignen" eventueel al grotendeels in de bestanden kunnen doen, door ervoor te zorgen dat de opmaak identiek is. Bedenk dat de align-functie in segmenten "denkt", net als Trados zelf. Wanneer het aantal "segmenteindes" (punt (denk ook aan afkortingen sec. versus sec), dubbele punt, uitroepteken, vraagteken, hard regeleinde en misschien nog iets wat ik over het hoofd zie) in beide bestanden op dezelfde plaats staat, hoef je achteraf weinig meer te corrigeren aan de automatische uitlijnfunctie van het programma. Lijkt lood om oud ijzer, maa ris het niet, want bij veel verschillen, gaat de boel aanzienlijk aan het schuiven. Twee RTF-bestanden met vrijwel identieke opmaak zijn het beste uitgangspunt.
