The good old GDT Feb 27, 2004

As I translate almost exclusively nautical and maritime texts, I can assure you that the Grand Dictionnaire is perfectly reliable in this domain. The Canadian gvt fishing site is bi-lingual. Refs later :

Might be wise to inform your client that you are being asked to check the terminology of a text for which you confess not having specialist knowledge.

Good luck.

Refs in a minute.

Nikki

Refs promised :

Homepages :

http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/csas/Csas/English/Index_f.htm
http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/csas/Csas/English/Index_e.htm

Perhaps start by checking out the sections which are appropriate to your context :

http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/csas/Csas/English/Links_f.htm
http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/csas/Csas/English/Links_e.htm

And take it from there. You will systematically find each page available in French and English. Quite honestly though, the fastest way round it will probably be to use the GDT, perhaps checking the Fisheries/Strategis sites for original language context confirmation.

A few more glossaries Feb 27, 2004

These are perhaps mostly oceanography glossaries - but they might be of some help.

I have found the first one in particular very useful:

Good luck!
