Happy New Year and thanks in advance for any help:

I would like to do a global change to replace all shift-returns to regular hard returns. I know how to write the hard return in the "to" box (^p), but I do I write the shift-return?

If you are working in Word, then you use ^l (that's a lowercase L) for soft returns. (it may vary with different applications)
You can also get it from the Special button, at the bottom of the expanded Find/Replace dialog box, which lists a few special characters such as non-breaking spaces, column breaks etc.

Roberta is right. The special character in Word is called manual line break.
