I can only see photographs incorporated in a manual in the Print Layout mode. How can I set up MS-Word to show them in the normal mode?

It depends, how they are integrated in Word

If those photographs are placed in boxes, you probably won't be able to show them in Normal view mode. To check the view settings, go to Tools - Options - View and check, if the "Placeholder for pictures" option under "Show" is unchecked and the option "Pictures" under "Printlayout and Web options" is checked.

Jerzy,
Thank you very much! I simply needed to uncheck Picture Placeholders under Show. I can now see everything I need to see.
