Hi all!

This client is asking me to proofread a pdf file with the Note tool -which I never heard of.

Can anyone enlighten me? Is it included in Adobe Reader 7 or do I have to download it somewhere? How does it work?

Thanks!

Puzzled luddite

You need the full version of Adobe Acrobat... Sep 4, 2005

...the Reader alone is not enough, I'm afraid. The "full" version costs $299 for the Standard edition and $449 for the Professional edition, but you can try the Professional edition for 30 days (www.adobe.com).

Adobe Reader 7 is enough, if the document is prepared correctly Sep 5, 2005

You can add notes even in Acrobat Reader 7, but the person who created the PDF file must use a option to prepare the file for commenting. Otherwise you'll need the full version.

For more information see:

PDF 7 Reader Sep 5, 2005

Supposedly, you can do this with PDF 7 Reader. However, the client needs to set up the document accordingly. I haven't tried it myself, though.

This is what it says in the online help:

In Adobe Reader, you can add comments only if additional usage rights that enable commenting are added to the PDF document by Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional or Acrobat server products. Otherwise, commenting tools aren't available.

The comments are the little yellow notes you can see in the document.

HTH!

PDF notes with Acrobat Reader Sep 5, 2005

The notes function was available in Acrobat Reader v6 as well. Yet, as mentioned above, the person who creates the PDF file must tick the boxes correctly for others to add PDF notes to it.
