Does anyone can roughly weigh the point correspondence between the two test systems?

No - they are completely different tests. Jun 20, 2002

IELTS is much more involved than TOEFL, which mainly tests for communicative skill and understanding. IELTS is extremely academic and tests a greater range of sklls. Choose TOEFL is you\'re planning to study in the US and IELTS for the UK. The only other way to check is to compare the entrance requirements for the various universities. I belive that in the UK you generally need 6.5 or 7 on IELTS to be accepted - which is equivalent to CAE or CPE. I\'m not sure about TOEFL though.
