Thumb drives over SD cards, DropBox opinion Oct 14, 2010

The following are my unofficial, personal opinions.

I prefer USB "thumb" drives over SD cards due to the size (I'm a lot less likely to lose a USB device than a small chip) and portability (USB ports are now universal, card readers are less common).

With that said, I use DropBox (cloud-based backup and sync) in lieu of a USB drive and have installed a number of portable applications into it (mostly from http://portableapps.com/ - open platform and open source). To support this, I've also configured SE-TrayMenu (freeware from http://se-soft.com/en/Products/TrayMenu/ - but closed source) to run in the tray as a mini menu, running on start up.

Best regards,
Jon
