שאלה ישנה על קורות חיים - האם לעברת שמות של מוסדות?

שלום לכולם. אני באמצע תרגום קטן של קורות חיים מאנגלית ושוב אני מוצאת עצמי תוהה- מה נראה יותר טוב; אם משאירים את שמות המוסדות בחו"ל בשפה המקורית (במיוחד אם אלה מקומות לא מי יודע מה מוכרים) או אם זו "חצי עבודה"...? זה תלוי אולי במקצוע? זה מקובל יותר להשאיר את הלועזי אם מדובר באקדמיה?

אם המקומות אכן לא מוכרים, כדאי, לדעתי, לתרגם אותם לעברית. זה יהיה ברור יותר למי שמקבל את הקו"ח.

היי ג'וליאנה,
בדרך כלל, אם ברור לכל דובר "בינלאומית" שמדובר באוניברסיטה, למשל, לפי דעתי חייבים להשאיר את זה באנגלית.
תחשבי על תרגום שם מוסד אקדמי אמריקאי כלשהו:
Indiana State University, למשל.
אם תתרגמי ל"אוניברסיטת מדינת אינדיאנה", "אוניברסיטת המדינה של אינדיאנה", או יצורים דומים, הרי שזה נשמע לא טבעי, ואף מגוחך קמעה.
חוץ מזה, להשאיר את שם המוסד, כל עוד הוא ברור, באנגלית, מוסיף רושם, וזו הלא מטרת קורות החיים...
אם מדובר בשם שהוא לא ברור למי שאינו כל כך טוב באנגלית, רצוי להוסיף תרגום בסוגריים.
אגב, מדובר בבחור הזה שהעברתי אליך?

אני כבר מתחילה לראות את עצמי כמין סניף בינלאומי שלך!
אני די מסכימה עם מה שאמרת, כי תרגום של כל הstate universities לא נראה מי יודע מה מקצועי לדעתי, ויש הרבה כאלה.
