Author and translator share the honor

List members might be interested to know that last night's Independent
Foreign Fiction prize (sponsored by The Independent newspaper, Arts Council
England and Champagne Taittinger) was won by the spanish novel, Soldiers of
Salamis (Bloomsbury). The prize is shared equally between the writer,
Javier Cercas, and the translator, Anne MacLean. Anne also happens to be a
member of this list! Congratulations.

You can find more information about the prize and the short and longlisted
titles on the Arts Council website (www.artscouncil.org.uk)
