no real difference Mar 22, 2003

Buda and Pest practically constitute a single city (like rive droite and rive gauche in Paris).

THere are some hills in Buda, while Pest is all flat, but there is no real difference in precipitation levels.

The same Mar 22, 2003

In principle, there are not any differences between the weather conditions in Buda or in Pest, but because of the mountains located in Buda (up to 500 m above sea level) the average temperature in some areas of Buda can be lower than in Pest. For example, when it is raining in Pest in January or February, you can ski on the Normafa mountain located in Buda.

oh... Mar 22, 2003

... I thought it was maybe like London, where south of the Thames it\'s Greenwich Mean Time, but north of the Thames is British Summer Time...

first time I hear this Mar 22, 2003

Is it really like this? A time difference between Southwark and Picadilly Circus?

At any rate, Hungary lies in the time zone as most of Europe. The following countries are already in the next time zone (GMT+2): Finland, Baltic republics, Byelorussia, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece (?). Anything West from this line is GMT+1.

yes remarkably enough... Mar 22, 2003

...if you run very fast you can get to picadilly circus from southwark before you leave.... in fact, it\'s said to be possible - if you time it right - to avoid growing old if you live your life in constant motion straddling the north and south sides. i\'ve tried it, but all i got was sore knees.

Hi Dan:-) Mar 22, 2003

Nice to see you\'ve been catching up...the wettest part of Budapest is obviously the middle.

Secret of Eternal Youth: move to Greenwich and set the clock back 10 years.

Recently been to the Observatory and it\'s really cool. I\'ve come home rejuvenated.

I tried that 10 years ago in 1983, but it doesn\'t seem to have worked.
