Connection problems with Skype Thread poster: Jørgen Madsen

Are others having problems with connecting to Skype?
I am offline most of the time and most of my contacts are, too (offline since yesterday morning), despite the fact that I have no problems with my broadband connection.
I have a colleague who has the same problem and her husband had read something about technical problems at Skype, but no information on their website...

Indeed, I am having lots of problems with skype too since yesterday. You see, I am writing from Brazil....

The IT manager of my office sent a note this morning, mentionning that Skype is indeed having technical issues with their servers, and that they hope to resolve them within the next 12 to 24 hours. Skype's suggestion is that if you cannot connect you should leave your Skype client running and it will automatically connect when they have repaired their systems.
Perhaps it's taking longer than they first expected...

I'm a Skype Nooby and I was driven up the wall trying to find out what's wrong, trying to talk from Poland to my parents in South Korea, with video to add so I didn't know where the root of the problem was.
But now I am relieved (well, sort of) to see that the problem is not mine.
Still see connection problems as I start Skype right now (17:30 Warsaw time).
When the program did manage to log on, I noticed that there were several hundred thousand people online, as opposed...
