Privatization of interpreting services in the UK

Hello everybody! I am a translation student and I am just wondering how up to date information I have gained. What do you know about the privatization of interpreting services in the UK? Did the framework agreement with the Applied language Solutions offered by Ministry of Justice in last year come into use? Are the Applied Language Solutions the only Public service interpreting provider? Does this concern only legal branch? For what do we need National Register of Public Service Interpreters? Thank you in advance for any relevant answers!
