Me too Aug 3, 2004

I can't wait to see it too. Althought I've never interpreted in UN booth, I have however interpreted a special UN tour (arranged for information specialists) given by a local staff member.

intrigue at the UN Aug 8, 2004

My only experience interpreting inside the UN building was as an escort interpreter for a crooked Argentine lawyer who came looking for bribes from U.S. contractors who were bidding in an infrastracture project. He claimed to be THE lawyer for the political party in power at the time, but people at the meetings seemed to have some doubts about this representation...

So I went from interpreting his speech about the "hermandad de los pueblos latinoamericanos" to telling some businessmen that for $50k the unions would not strike if their company won the bid... all quite eye-opening

...I just saw a still photo of the movie, with Sean Penn and Nicole Kidman kissing with abandon during working hours...now how many times a day does that happen to a regular interpreter...I mean getting to kiss Sean Penn

I just want to say "gra...pcias" for this one (remember Manolito handing out Almacén Don Manolo's ugly calendars to his friends?)... I'm not sure it's good or bad news!

A.
