Stavo cercando nel glossario una parola in latino e ho visto che esistono "native speaker of Latin" volevo chiedere a chi è più esperto, che cosa si intende.

me lo sono chiesta anch'io...:-? dopo aver ricevuto un appunto (su domanda EN>IT) da un 'native speaker of Latin'...all'inizio ho pensato che fosse un prete, ma il profilo non me lo ha confermato.

ha trovato l'elisir di LUNGA vita... oppure è il figlio della perpetua di un prelato MOLTO tradizionalista... o magari ci sta prendendo un po' in giro...
naturalmente spero che sia vera la prima (hai visto mai che magari si commuove e vuol condividere il segreto!) - oltretutto il latino ecclesiastico è molto più brutto di quello classico.

Sono d'accordo sull'uso erroneo dell'espressione "native speaker", ma e' comunque vero che ci sono persone (soprattutto ecclesiastici, ma non solo) in grado di esprimersi correntemente e correttamente in latino, senza andare a consultare il vocabolario e la grammatica del quarto ginnasio.
Io non definirei però la variante di una lingua come "brutta": significa quindi, che so, che il latino della "Summa Teologica" è meno gradevole di quello di un qualunque scrittoruccio del I sec a.C.? Con questa logica si può tranquillamente arrivare a dire che l'inglese di Shakespeare è migliore di quello di Allen Ginsberg...e sono sicura che tutti dissentiamo su questo.
