I see that we are nearing this number of questions posted. Any plans for celebration?...

Yes,... Jul 22, 2008

...one or two of us are planning to post accurate and helpful answers for a change. And we are promising not to try to answer questions in languages of which we know nothing at all.

...we will answer at random just for the pleasure of answering! My favourite reply: "¡Almácigas!"

That has probably been surpassed Jul 22, 2008

From what I can see from the numbering, the total number of questions asked must already be heading close to 2,760,000 if the numbering system has been consistent.

TOPIC STARTER
Tut, tut Tomás! Jul 23, 2008

For the sake of myself and the couple of other Prozians who don't know the term "Almácigas", here is the drae.rae.es definition:

almáciga1.

(Del ár. hisp. almáṣṭaka, este del ár. clás. maṣṭakā[‘], y este del gr. μαστίχη).

In other words, either a clear resin extracted from a kind of lentil (sounds dangerously like Call My Bluff), or a place where vegetables are planted and grown until they are transplanted elsewhere (this last being a necessary part of the definition!).

Curiously enough, the two definitions have different etymologies.

Please make a serious attempt to incorporate this word into your active vocabulary...
