Thank you, Per, for your thorough posting and for confirming that I was right to completely ignore GBK since its inception. The whole purpose of Kudoz, for me, is to help providing translations for real-life translation tasks in very specific contexts, not some terms that were dreamt up out of the blue, some of which can easily be found in specialised/ online dictionaries.
I therefore support this wholeheartedly:

Thank you, Per, for sharing your thoughts; I fully support your idea. GBK questions lately seem a bit ambiguous anyway; not sure how they get selected and if they have to go through at least an initial screening (like, for instance, poll questions). In my opinion, there should be a team of at least 2 more translators specialized in the relevant fields to review GBK questions before they get posted. Just the most recent one ("blurb"), posted this week in EN>HU, is a guaranteed fiasco as the term itself can be used in journalism, book publishing, as well as general marketing; the definition and explanation come from "journalism.uk" while all three example sentences were taken from book publishing web sites. This may not be a big deal in English; however, my suggestion ("szerzőismertető") would only work in journalism and for the brief introduction of an author. In Hungarian, a separate term ("fülszöveg") would be used in book publishing, and yet another if we were referring to the generic promotional material of a product or web site, etc. So the way this question was put together already guarantees only partially correct answers, unless we only focus on the term and the definition. My otherwise correct translation will not work in the example sentences, my colleague's translation will not work in journalism unless we disregard the definition and the source; so most likely no one will agree (or disagree) with either and the question will be left open for the next several years to come. (It should be squashed, actually.)
I, too, am puzzled why I'm receiving reminder emails about open GBK questions, even when I was the one providing an answer. Some of these questions are several months old. It might be a good idea to set a timer on them and if they don't receive enough feedback within a certain time (say, one month) then they should be automatically removed. What do you all think?

The last question in GBK was posted July 14. Since than - nothing.
Would somebody please tell me what happened to this very important, well thought-out feature.
Are there any plans what comes next. WikiWords -> GBK -> ???

A general update to the KudoZ system, which would include the integration of GBK, wil happen in the future. There is no scheduled date for this update, however, as more pressing issues have a higher priority. When the update is made, the community will be notified.
