I don't know if this has been brought up, but I can't read all the postings because I don't have time. So if you have already talked about it, I'm sorry to be repetitive. I particularly notice this in legal questions, but I'm sure it must happen in other fields. It would be good to implement some kind of method to double check the answers that go to the glossary. I'm sorry I can't suggest a way to do this, but probably you know how or have already been thinking about it. Thanks in advance!

Yes, I'd love to have the option to edit legal glossary entries | Aug 22, 2005 |
I have seen a number of entries that are clearly wrong. At the moment there is nothing I can do about it, and I would so love to edit them. As professionals, we ought to have some method of doing this. I would suggest that we be permitted to edit the entries in our own specialised field. Astrid

My opinion only. ▲ Collapse

The KOG now allows member input on glossary entries | Aug 22, 2005 |
In a first step to wiki-type community glossary, we have enabled input on glossary entries via the KOG. It is possible not only to add example sentences and definitions, but also to "agree" and "disagree" with entries. See http://www.proz.com/kog

I had wondered what this "peer review" business was when I ran across it while looking at old Kudoz questions, but was afraid to click on it to find out! After reading this thread, I just now used it for the first time to add a note to a glossary entry I found yesterday (from an old Kudoz question) that was completely wrong. A couple of suggestions: The top line (for entering a comment) shows a character limit, but the other two fields (enter a definition and enter an example sentence, I think is what they were called) don't. I took it for granted that there was no limit, but after adding definitions and links as references, I found that the text was cut off after a few lines. I had to go back and edit my entry. I think either a character limit should be shown for these, or there should be no limit. Thanks for adding this option. ▲ Collapse

See http://www.proz.com/kog Hi Henry The peer review in the KOG is a great idea! thanks. Of course I do feel ostracized when I see "non-Platinum member" instead of my user name in front of my own entries... I had made a similar comment (in general thread about new format) regarding the personal glossaries, and Jason has informed me that you've decided to change this with a fair compromise (ie username entered but without direct link to profile), and it would be nice and fair to non-Plat contributors to similarly give us credit for our contributions to the community in the KOG. I'd like to make a suggestion to improve the visibility and format of the KOG word listing pages: The page is now so wide that it cannot fit fully on the screen and requires constrant horizontal scrolling. The left colum showing the list of major and minor language pairs is really unnecessary once we've selected the pair we need, yet it occupies a wide and useless space on the left. Could this be changed somehow, so the KOG listing can be viewed entirely on the screen? (hope I am clear enough in my explanation?) Thanks and regards dominique

It is possible not only to add example sentences and definitions, but also to "agree" and "disagree" with entries. See http://www.proz.com/kog I've been taking a look and I discovered the following: 1) In an answer provided by myself, I appear as "not a Platinum member". Is it possibly because at the moment of answering the question I was not Platinum yet? 2) I found a question where the name displayed on the right was actually the asker's name instead of the answerer's name. It's not very important but I thought you might want to know about it.

You should still be shown as platinum. Could you direct me a specific page? 2) I found a question where the name displayed on the right was actually the asker's name instead of the answerer's name. The name shown is that of the person who entered the term into the glossary. It can be the asker or the answerer.

Henry wrote: We'll show non-platinum names in the KOG, too AND: There are also instances when the answer from a previous non-platinum member is presented as a "non-platinum member" answerer in spite of the fact that that member is now platinum. I hope that you, after your correction, will present that answer with this member's name in bold type. MW
