So far I see only negative aspects of KudoZ.NET:
1) 4MB on my hard disc for such a programme is too much.
2) It\'s too \"beta\".
3) Its interface doesn\'t fit the PC screen.
But the main negative point is that I DON\'T UNDERSTAND WHAT IS IT FOR? Maybe it will be useful for people with dial-up Internet connection but for those with unlimited Internet access (e.g. cable, DSL)

it seems to be totally useless. So far I don\'t see any advantages, I believe it\'s much more convenient to deal with KudoZ online. Now I regret that I’ve downloaded it.
Generally speaking I would prefer ProZ technical stuff to concentrate their efforts not on new and hardly necessary \"toys\" but on old and POORLY working KudoZ questions notification system: in June I received those notifications 5-10 minutes after they had been posted, in August - 40-50 minutes, now - 2-3 hours. Very often I get those notifications when the question have been already closed! It all makes my participation in KudoZ system quite useless - all these late KudoZ notifications are just some additional garbage in my mailbox (even importunate pornography spam is not so irritating). If it goes on like this I will have nothing else to do as to limit my KudoZ mail just to answers to my own questions.
And Marta, please don\'t tell me that KudoZ notifications come late because of my ISP - it\'s not true. I know it for sure.

Among the advantages of the KudoZ.NET approach are that it will reduce load on the servers (only content goes out), and that it will reduce reliance on email as a means of notification.
In per-launch testing, one person expressed views similar to yours. Over time, that person came to see value, even with an always-on high-speed connection.

I downloaded the new feature, but I\'m fairly sure that I will stick to the on-line interface... This for the fact that I have unlimited Internet access. For those who have not, it surely will be a valuable tool to put questions and answers, not all of us have the \"luxury\" of cable or DSL Internet connection, not even in Europe where DSL etc. are still rather expensive...

Still, Nikita has a point: not only the KudoZ notifications seem not to work properly, even the Job notifications seem to. Just 15 minutes ago I got a notification for a job that was posted at 10.30 this morning, GMT...
Guess if I would have had the chance to get this job if I\'d wanted to and futhermore if it was urgent...
Instant notification in my opinion is very important in this business, we see this every day. Who comes first eats first as we say in German  I don\'t like this, but it seems to be a fact, even when it comes to KudoZ questions...

This site contains so much necessary and useful information, besides KudoZ questions, I am actually browsing through it a few times a day, whenever I have some time to do so.

I think, I would definitely use this tool more often if there was a glossary search in it.
I already posted my comment on this to the Proz staff and was notified that this software will be updated and new features will be added.
I think there\'s no point in complaining about how useless it is at the moment. Wait until it develops. It\'s still beta.

I downloaded it and set it to fine the last 25 Russian-English unanswered questions, easy & pro, all subjects. It came back with three, dated 23 August 2000, 21 September 2000 and 23 August 2002.
I share Nikita\'s concern about late notification of KudoZ questions. The last one notified to me was posted at 0917 but not notified till 1951.
It may be coincidence but since downloading Metatexis and now KudoZ.NET, my computer seems to be crashing more frequently.

That the server sends you old questions when you download \"unansered questions only\" is to be explected. For, usually KudoZ question are answered very quickly so that there are hardly any unanswered questions to be seen.
I recommend to set status \"ungraded questions only\" when you download questions to answer. You will then get the latest questions which have not been graded.<... See more Hello Jack,

The question appears in Cyrillic Windows encoding but the answers appear in Western European Windows encoding. It is possible to decode this manually but it is a laborious process. Can I (or you?) do anything to make the answers appear in Cyrillic Windows encoding?

Oh, and one more problem. Four or five times KudoZ.NET has told me there is an upgrade to version 1.01 which I can download. Whenever I try to to this, it always fails after about 200 kb. It says I should report to ProZ if this fault continues. OK, it continues, I am reporting it.

Parts of the interface seem to support Cyrillic, others give me strings of symbols.
And I\'ve also been offered the update each time I start the program (I update once before catching on that this doesn\'t do anything).
It\'s a good idea, and perhaps to soon to tell how it will work.

It\'s just the opposite in my case! Cyrillics in anwers are OK while the question is illegible if written in Russian. I\'ve just reported the problem using the Support Request. This bug seems to be connected with the Windows default codepage: I use the Russian version of Windows while Jack apparently uses the English one.

P.S. Well, no, the codepage doesn\'t matter. The reason is different directions: when one works in English>Russian language pair, the situation is like I described it, when the language pair is Russian>English, it\'s like in Jack\'s case.
