Dear folks,

I am happy of being part of this forum.
The point that I want to bring into your attention is about the usage and importance of Kudoz. I remember I posted one question in Tigrinya several months ago but I have received nothing yet. This might be due to lower participation of transaltors who are in Tigrinya pair. Could you pls advise me on how to make use of KudoZ in efficient manner? Is there anybody who is in my pair? If there is, let me know and we can work toget

This is true for other "rare" languages too Jan 5, 2008

If nobody answers your question you are on your own. You could try to post in the source language monolingual section. So if you do not know, what an English expression means, you would post in English to English section. When you then know what it means you have to come up with your translation. If a prior translation does not exist or cannot be found, you must invent one.

I also tried posting a monolingual question in a minority language I work with and have had to abandon it years ago...

Regarding Heinrich's suggestion, you could try searching for colleagues in the directory. As a paying member, you can also request (ask Support) for a private forum to which you can invite participants.

Sorry for delayed reply.
Thanks Heinrich and Parrot. You are nice to me.

KudoZ is not effective for rare target languages.

I understand that way. KudoZ does not help much for rare target languages like Tigrinya.

You could try to post in the source language monolingual section.

How could I post in monoligual section of source language. Dont get mad of being silly. Where I can find it.

I have tried to search transaltors of my pair but I could not find. I brought this issue forward to site staff via support ticket.

Thanks
Dan

Some quick pointers Jan 5, 2008

1. Monolingual KudoZ: instead of selecting *different* source and target languages from the drop down menus when posting a KudoZ, just select the *same* languages for both source and target.

To search for English-Tigrinya translators, simply go to : http://www.proz.com/directory (click on the tab called "directories" at the top of all ProZ.com pages, then click on "Freelancers"). O

I just did the search for you for English to Tigrinya. You can see the results by clicking on the link, below:

I'll let you practice for Tigrinya to English.

Good help Jan 8, 2008

Dear Yolanda,

Thanks for the pointers. The link is a great help for me. I am seeing there are four in my pair. I will try to reach them. If they are following our thread, I am giving this message: pls let us get connected with each other.

I will try to involve in monolingual KudoZ.

I again thank your for valuable suggestion of participating in Tigrinya to English too.

Thanks,
Dan
