EURO RSCG INTERACTION SPONSORS THE SECOND EDITION OF THE LRC BEST GLOBAL WEBSITE AWARD.

London, England (July 19th, 2004)- On the Internet, websites need to be increasingly customised, or localised for foreign markets, taking into account local language issues, business or social standards and aesthetic preferences.

In recognition of both the innovative work being done to make websites globally competitive but locally relevant, and the importance of this still emerging digital market, the European Union through the Localisation Research Centre created the Best Global Website Award in 2003. The purpose of this award is to find Europe’s most innovative website in relation to multilingual and multicultural issues. In 2004, it is once again sponsored by Euro RSCG Interaction (www.eurorscginteraction.co.uk).

The goal of the award is also to highlight the capabilities of a truly globalised site and show the increased effectiveness and profitability of this style of website over other non-globalised ones. It is a prestige award that aims to actively reward electronic publishers and marketers that take advantage of the opportunities that localisation presents and do so in a way that pushes the envelope outward, excelling in this area and setting a high standard for other digital marketers to live up to.

This award invites those who have designed and or are operating a multi-lingual website to submit their work for consideration. Websites will be judged on a variety of different criteria by a panel of academic and industry experts.

Jesús Maroto, Account Manager & Localisation Director at Euro RSCG Interaction in London, UK, said: “Euro RSCG Interaction is proud to announce its sponsorship of the LRC 2004 Best Global Website Award. As a world leader in new media, cross-cultural online communications is core to our business. We aim to provide our clients with integrated business solutions that combine great creative thinking, insightful strategy, and cutting-edge technology. We apply our local expertise to successfully build our clients' businesses and brands across cultures and languages. Compelling cross-cultural online communications are hard to sell and even harder to achieve. We are glad there is an award that recognises those who've succeeded and we are honoured to sponsor it for the second year in a row. ”

“The European Union (EU) has recognised that localisation is core for the equal and inclusive digital world. Localisation makes the global information society possible,” said LRC Director Reinhard Schäler. “This award will raise awareness of localisation by rewarding excellence. The winner will set standards and be recognised by experts and peers as the example to follow.”
