Organisers: University of Birmingham and University of Lancaster

The organisers invite the submission of abstracts for the conference
Corpus Linguistics 2005, to be held at the University of Birmingham
15-17 July 2005.

This is the third biennial conference in the Corpus Linguistics series
but the first to be held at the University of Birmingham. It follows on
from the successful predecessors held at the University of Lancaster in
2001 and 2003.

We invite papers on corpus-based/corpus-driven research including, but
not limited, to the following areas:

- Phraseology
- Critical Discourse Analysis
- Translation
- Pedagogical applications of corpora
- Corpora, dictionaries and grammar
- Corpus compilation
- Software development

Proposals can be made for single papers or for themed colloquia.
A detailed abstract should be sent in electronic form to
Pernilla Danielsson by January 14th , 2005. Please use the attached
cover form for your submissions. The form can also be downloaded
from our website
(www.corpus.bham.ac.uk/conference/cover-sheet.doc).
Abstracts for papers should not exceed 300 words; colloquium abstracts
should include the names of the proposed speakers and not exceed
500 words.

Authors will be notified whether their papers/colloquia are
accepted by April 8th, 2005. The timeslot given for paper
presentations is 30 minutes (including 10 minutes for
discussion), and for colloquia 90 minutes.

Thursday July 14th, will be devoted to pre-conference workshops,
for which a separate call for proposals was sent out earlier.
